Republican presidential nominee-in-waiting John McCain praised New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg during a visit to the Big Apple and hinted that Bloomberg could be considered as a possible running mate.
Bloomberg is leaving office next year due to term limits and has been rumored to be mulling a run for governor in New York. Asked about that speculation, McCain told the New York Post:
Do I think he could serve the state of New York and the country well? Of course.
When asked about the possibility of Bloomberg, an Independent, running as the GOPs vice presidential candidate, McCain refused to rule it out, saying: We dont talk about our vice-presidential possibilities. But he added: I appreciate Mayor Bloomberg enormously and the great job hes done as mayor.
As Newsmaxs Insider Report disclosed last week, a source close to the mayor told an interviewer that after a recent breakfast meeting between McCain and Bloomberg, the mayor was on McCains short list for the vice presidential slot.
McCain also had praise for former GOP rival Rudy Giuliani, who endorsed McCain after dropping out as a presidential candidate, and told the Post he would have a role in a McCain administration.

Bloomberg?! Why doesn’t he just drop trou and moon us?
God help us.
McCain is clearly off the reservation. I truly don't think he has the requisite mental acuity to be POTUS.

Nervous Tick: Skipping McCain/Bloomerg Box on Ballet a Certainty
Ay Caramba!
Good thing that this phony story is from Newsmax, the most horseshit fabricating news site on the Internet.
Newsmax is full of s**t as usual.
McCain says Bloomberg would be good for the country.... fuhgettaboutit!
Just concede now and get it over with! At the very least, it will save us from months and months of incessant political analysis on the news networks (perhaps we can get back to real news)! ;-)
Yeah, it is a stupid story. McCain is out trying to get support. What is he gonna do trash Bloomberg and Rudy? McCain basically said no comment.
never
Maybe he is just trying to throw the mainstream off course.
A couple of weeks ago FoxNews was seriously reporting that Bloomberg was on the Obama VP short list AND on the McCain VP short list.
[What does that say about the distinctions between the parties/candidates?]
In all my years here, I don't recall a single story of theirs that was ever true. They're psychos.
Keep talking John. Keep talking. Sheesh.
This was not unsolicited statement by McCain. What was McCain suppose to say without being un-cordial? 'Bloomberg? There's noway I am considering him for VP.'
This is a non-story.
As if McCain can’t get any worse for conservatives, he manages to find a way again!
The next time someone tells me I Must Vote McCain!
They get a big PHAT PHUCK YOU!
