Clinton to drop out Saturday
Politico ^ | 6/4/08 | Ben Smith

Posted on 06/04/2008 6:58:58 PM PDT by Dawnsblood

Hillary Clinton's campaign said she would end her campaign for president at an event in Washington, D.C. Saturday.

Clinton will "thank her supporters and express her support for Senator Obama and party unity," the campaign said in a statement.

The campaign initially planned a Friday event, but rescheduled it to Saturday in a second statement, in order "to accomodate more of Senator Clinton's supporters who want to attend."

Clinton delivered something approaching a victory speech Tuesday night, just minutes after the media reported that Senator Barack Obama had clinched the nomination with a majority of the pledged delegates. But reality began to sink in Wednesday, as party leaders, including House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, declared Obama "the nominee" and close supporters like Harlem Rep. Charles Rangel lost patience with her delays.

By the afternoon, as she made plans to end her campaign's operations, a question of whether she would drop out and endorse Obama was rapidly turning into matters of choreography and psychology, questions of what form the inevitable would take.

A Clinton aide said that Clinton was also planning a New York homecoming with Rep. Charles Rangel, a key African-American supporter.

Clinton had convened a conference call with congressional supporters Wednesday to plead for time. Instead, a Clinton backer said, her supporters laid down the law: Time had run out , and she needed to leave the race this week.

Clinton's dropout drama had no chance of changing the outcome of the primary, as the Democratic Party began to close ranks behind Obama. But it did compete for attention with Obama's win.

Now, Obama has two more days to pay his respects to her and her supporters, though he has indicated that he doesn't consider the threat that they'll defect en masse to GOP Senator John McCain a serious one.

She’s keeping her delegates for the convention. I don’t think it’s just to hear her name placed in nomination.

I’m a little perturbed at the “media” for making a big deal out of this. What we inquiring minds want to know is WHAT IS SHE GETTING OUT OF THE DEAL? VP! Sec. of State? HHS Sec.? WHAT? That’s the REAL news here and once again, the “media” is failing to do its job.

Picture this.

After a nine-course State Dinner, featuring Grilled Fillet of Beef medallions sided with imported cepes and mushrooms, drizzled with Vin Rouge and Balsamic reduction, and potato cakes and vermeil flatware, gold pintuck silk tablecloths, sprays of white phaeleanopsis orchids with camellia foliage in the historic White House vermeil candelabras in the East Room for visiting Korean President Lee Myung Bak, a chorus of singers from the US Military Forces, top name entertainment, and final speeches and toasts by the heads of state before finishing for the night, President and Mrs. Obama escort Vice President and Mr. Clinton to the North Portico door, seeing them off, and that pair have to leave the White House they once occupied, not able to go upstairs to the family quarters which they feel they so richly deserve, but back to the Naval Observatory quarters. Second Fiddle for a Sociopath.

Could this dysfunctional woman (and man) even go through with that public and private humiliation, event-after-event at the White House, for eight long years?

She would snap, I swear, a corpuscle in her brain would burst from jealousy and anger. I don't think she would be able to contain her envious rage, nor would Bill for that matter. A real "two-fer". It would be one of the most pitiful, but perhaps even dangerous things to view in American history.

This would be the most rocky President-Vice President relationship perhaps in US history.

Also, Freeper Constitutional experts out there: The Vice President is also selected by electors in the Electoral College. What constitutional provisions are there by his or her FIRING by the President? Could a constitutional battle be triggered if Obama tired of her, or worse yet, had been politically threatened by her or worse in her unsatiatable thirst to become Commander in Chief, and attempted to remove her?? Everyone knows she would fight tooth and nail. Probably she would just run against him again in 2012. One wonders.

For Obama's staff and the man himself, they better realllllly think this one through over the weekend.

Pay attention, people.

He's right. It isn't, and it portends ill tidings, both for us, and for those very people who will be treated the same way that McCain treats Conservative voters within the GOP. - with disdain.

The VP can only be removed by a formal ratified act of impeachment.

Alone, the President is powerless to do anything of the sort.

I don’t buy it. Trial balloon. Why would she drop out? Barry is the “presumed” nominee. Superdelegates can change their minds.

Others Obama shoes can drop. More preachers. Rezko. Michelle tape (if it exists).

I believe that the VP can only be removed from office by a process of impeachment, trial, and conviction similar to what is prescribed for removal of a President.

Main Stream Media hacks are reporting that Clinton has "suspended" her campaign for president. Merriam-Webster definition- Suspend: to cause to stop temporarily b: to set aside or make temporarily inoperative ; to debar temporarily especially from a privilege, office, or function . The Clintons are masters of deceit and double speak. The Clinton's operative word in the definition is "temporarily".

I think she is done. Mondale and other high ranking Democrats have begun announcing their support for Obama for the past day or so. Mondale had been a Clinton supporter until today.

I think Clinton saw no hope. If bad news comes about Obama anytime between now and the election and he drops out, the for the good of the party, Hillary Clinton will step in.

I think she's somehow socked away tens of millions in 'campaign contributions' that will somehow find its way into her wallet. I never believed she 'borrowed from herself' or was out of money at any time.

And she's not going away. H stands for Hillary and it also stands for herpes - you think it's gone and then the lesions pop up unexpectedly.

She's went beyond embarrassing herself. She's entered that stage where a child is put in their room all alone screaming and crying in a corner and no one is listening any longer. I want to say I feel somewhat bad for her because she really did get eaten by her own but I'm sorry I find it so dang funny it will long be one of the best running jokes in political history for me personally. Oh how the mighty have fallen.

Now if the dang MSM would just be patient and back off she'd crawl away already. Every time they publicly announce.. she's gonna do it!! She's gonna concede.. Here it comes!! She yells.. SIKE!! and stays around for just one more day. What people aren't getting, well I think we do get it. She's giving everyone who promised her a victory lap early on and the MSM that jumped ship a HUGE middle finger. This was suppose to be her time and they took it all from her and in the process her beloved man became a babbling fool and she ended up looking.. well, looking like, well ya know. Hillary LOL.

I will be stunned if she ends up on Bam Bams ticket. After all the mudslinging and the fact that his only thing has been all about change I can't see where she offers that avenue. Not to mention she has repeatedly suggested he isn't ready for the job “on day one” I won't even point out how Mrs. Bam Bam will not want her man to share the spot light on the potential day of swearing in. Just can't see it happening.

What I find most insulting is this emotional hugging game they are doing with her at this point. Everyone calmly let the crazy lady walk out when she wants to ... OR ELSE. I say take your chances and tell her GET LOST!! It's OVER! Things happen. Give Rudy a call. He'll tell ya what it's like to go from front runner to has been and he's doing just fine. It's also an insult to those that voted for Bam. For some reason she wants to stick around for her supporters but truth be told some of that support was never really hers but rather this whole stupid chaos nonsense. Apparently her supporters deserve more respect than the winning guys supporters. Sheesh.

Just get this Aria over with Diva and get the hell out of the spotlight and let us at Bam Bam. This ones going to be very easy. All you gotta say is.. Wanna debate? And get him there and suddenly the playing field isn't a sure bet for the almighty media darling. Hell, I think we need to take bets when he will actually have a direct answer in regard to all this mythical change he keeps talking about. LOL.

Go home Hill. You've given us enough to nail this guy to the wall. We made sure you were dumped and used you in the process. Thanks!

Probably she would just run against him again in 2012.

She'll be almost 70 in 2012 - and while a man can be elected when he's 70 - I doubt a woman could pull that off. Walk into a nursing home and you'll find women in their 70's...

Y’all are actually buying this crap from Politico.com? How quickly we forget, eh?

I don’t believe any of the rumors going around about her completely dropping out, and endorsing Obama. IMHO, it’s all wishful thinking on the part of the DNC, the media, and Obama’s campaign. She’s actually got them right where she wants them - scared... Why in the world would she give up now?

I may of course be wrong, but let’s not buy any of the crap the MSM is selling right now about it. Politico SAYS it’s from her campaign, but I have yet to see any names associated with this news... They were all saying the same thing last night, too.

It’s not over till August unless Hillary herself says otherwise - no matter what the media and Obama’s campaign says (and no matter how much we wish the reports were true). The Superdelegates haven’t voted yet, and they could always change their minds between now and then.

If I were her, I would just sit back for a while and let everyone stew. Chances are they would go into “meltdown mode” and start saying some REALLY stupid things. That could be just the thing that she’s waiting for, IMHO.

I don't buy it either. Thats why I say SHUT UP MSM. Let that Diva sing her final song her way with little fanfare and she'll back off. If you pay her no mind she finally go away. Just keep saying she has lost the nomination and then focus on BAM BAM. She'll look like the village idiot riding her bicycle around city hall covered in American flag decals chanting I am a pretty white American gal.

Right now they are daring her to stay just one more day. Just to tick her off more. It's almost as if they haven't paid attention to a Clinton. NO ONE TELLS A CLINTON what to do. She has to call the shots. She's even trying to hold the VP position hostage. They all just need to back off. They can throw their party the second she says she's done. If they really wanted to get under her skin just keep the headlines simply. Hillary has LOST. Then move on.

I could see a group of people dressed in white with a straight jacket and net waiting for her on the sidelines talking to her like she's a little child. It's ok sweetie. Come this way. Every things going to be just fine. There ya go. Say it's over. Thats right sweetie...closer... GRAB HER! LOL
