Dean, Pelosi, Reid set Friday deadline for superdelegates' choices... force end to Clinton bid
Los Angeles Times ^ | June 4, 2008 | Andrew Malcolm

With the final primary concluded barely hours before, top Democratic Party leaders in Washington early this morning ratcheted up the pressure to force all remaining uncommitted superdelegates to make their choice of candidate known by Friday -- and thus end the now hopeless, onetime front-running campaign of New York Sen. Hillary Clinton.

The joint statement was obviously pre-planned and timed for issue shortly after Clinton refused to concede the presidential nomination victory to Barack Obama, who's gained sufficient delegates to clinch the party's nomination.

Howard Dean, right, chairman of the Democratic National Committee, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and West Virginia Gov. Joe Manchin, chairman of the Democratic Governors Assn., issued the brief statement for unity just minutes ago:

The critical thing to remember is that many of the democrats who threw their support to Obama would be nothing without the Clinton family's support.

Bill Richardson is an excellent example.

He is a modern day Judas Iscariot for betraying the very people who brought him to power.

Not that I like any of these democrat idiots, but I have yet another reason to avoid people who think like this: There is absolutely no loyalty among them.

These people betray the folks who establish their existence in politics, and it is disturbing.

Actually the declarations are NOT votes. The voting doesn’t come until the election and the supes are not bound by anything they have said before that time. I’m not really sure how bound the state delegates are.

I suspect that she will blame Bill for his angry outbursts, but the black vote went to Obama simply because he is black.

That is why Obama swept many of the southern states.

Hillary's greatest mistake was not releasing Obama's dirty laundry soon enough.

Rezkogate, Muslim photogate, Ayersgate and Pastorgate all should have come into the media spotlight much sooner. No way Iowa would have picked Obama had they seen the Jeremiah Wright videos before their primary/caucus.

Not that it matters.

I just pray that the black racist baby-skull-cruncher loses in November.

Obama is pure evil, and her husband is also.

Being a New Mexican, I can certainly attest to the perfidy of King Bill. (That's what we call him here.)

However, I can find no sympathy in my heart for either of the Clintons. Betrayal of friends, associates, and country is their M.O. That they are getting some of it back, regardless of the motives of the others, is well-deserved IMO. And, the entertainment value of seeing Bill Clinton once again show his lack of Presidential gravitas, while tragic for the office of the Presidency, will be a boon to many.

You are right.

I remember reading about a Secret Service Agent who had his head caved in by one of Hillary's ashtray tantrums. His gash was so bloody terrible, that he had to seek treatment/stitches at a hospital. The article mentioned that Hillary told him to seek treatment some 100-150 miles away to avoid the press finding out about what happened.

She is evil, and I agree with you that her loss is deserved.

I wonder what the Clintons are going to do next.

And what of their operatives? Carville, McAufliffe, etc??

My imagination will run wild until I know for certain.

the convention isn’t until august.. i thought. why are they pushing to get this settled before the convention? wtf is with that?

waiting until the convention is why most people would want to be super delegates... to be able to weasel as much as possible from the various candidates

liberals.. changing the rules whenever its in their best interest. brilliant

More wishful thinking on the part of the DNC picked up by the MSM in their effort to anoint Obama, and push Clinton aside... It isn’t over until the superdelegates actually vote at the convention no matter what they say now. Hillary could literally just sit back and wait till August - not say a dang thing and let Obama, the DNC, and the MSM stew. By the time August rolls around she’d probably have a lot of ammunition to use against Obama.

I cannot find that article about the ashtray and the Secret Service Agent's trip to the hospital, but I am confident that is what I read.

The articles above will disturb you if you believe the words of the Marines and Secret Service Agents assigned to the Clinton Administration.

Isn’t this CHANGING their nomination rules while the election is in play?

Are they afraid that something may come out while all eyes are on the sacred Golden Child that may cost him the nomination?

Barack Obama was SELECTED not ELECTED.

Why would Hillary Rodham Clinton decide to announce that she is willing to accept the Vice President slot before 5:00PM on the last day (Tuesday) of primary contests?

Answer:
Hillary is aware that a tape rumored to involve Obama’s wife Michelle is about to break. She has now positioned herself as a team player and when the SUPER DELEGATES finally hear the news ( any time until the convention), she is perfectly positioned for the SUPER DELEGATES to cast there votes for her. The SUPER DELEGATES can change their minds right up until the convention roll call. I can’t think of any other reason for her to have made the VP announcement as soon as she has done.

What a loyal group of people the democrats are.

Now, now; it's just not fair to criticize them on those grounds. If some unsuccessful Republican candidate pulled a stunt like this, the rest of the party would be down on him like a ton of bricks, and properly so.

If the DNConvention isn't actually what decided the nomination of the the party for president, the whole primary system, which after all merely selects delegates to the convention [or at least so we are told] is a fraud.

Therefore, any Big Journalism coverage of the "convention" will be an in-kind contribution to the DNC.

. . . are Dean and Pelosi demanding that the super "delegates" to the "convention" decide on the VP by Friday, too?

McCain's posture will make this election "a themeless pudding" of the sort that Democrats love; if the Democrats can't beat him they are brain dead. Obama won the nomination of the superdelegates only by beating Hillary with the votes of blacks in southern states which should be a gimmie for a Republican candidate in the general election; that puts the Rust Belt in play for the Republicans and if they can't win this election in a walk they are brain dead.

This election is beginning to make me think of Hitler's invasion of the USSR - the only trouble with it is they can't both lose.
