Let Us by All Means Have an Honest Conversation About Race
Commentary Magazine ^ | May 23, 2008 | Linda Chavez

Posted on 05/23/2008 9:02:44 AM PDT by Jbny

On April 30, the day after Barack Obama issued his second and more definitive statement repudiating his spiritual mentor Jeremiah Wright, the editorial page of the New York Times warmly congratulated the Illinois Senator for making it clear “that the preacher does not represent him, his politics, or his campaign.” In almost its next breath, the paper went on to score the Republican John McCain for embracing “a white supporter, Pastor John Hagee, whose bigotry matches that of Mr. Wright,” to tar an anti-Obama commercial in North Carolina as “race-baiting,” and to call for a “serious, healthy, and much-needed discussion” on the sour state of racial relations in America.

In its manifest belief that the storm over Jeremiah Wright has given fresh evidence of a deep-seated and persistent racial stand-off in American society, and that prejudice resides to a more or less equal degree in the hearts of whites and blacks, the Times was simply following the lead of Obama himself. Both in his April 30 statement and in his heralded March 18 speech on race in Philadelphia, the candidate decried the enduring hold of our “old divisions”—divisions that, indeed, it has been the declared purpose of his campaign to heal and to transcend. He has also repeatedly referred to his Philadelphia speech as an effort to open up an honest national “conversation.” But are the candidate and the Times right on this matter of our divisions? And are they attempting to facilitate such a conversation, or instead to foreclose the possibility of one?

An honest conversation means that Whites can say what’s on their minds. This will never happen, because Whites are ALWAYS accused of being racist whenever they say ANYTHING about race.

Because of this we shut up in public, and post on Free Republic.

OK, let's do that.

Race doesn't mean Jack to me.
I don't care if you're pink with purple polka dots.
You're one of three things. You're trying to help me, you're trying to hurt me, or you're indifferent to me. This includes the plural me that is my family.

Depending on which of these three things you are is how I will treat you.

It has NOTHING to do with what color you are.

Awesome video:

The same kind of terrorists who support Obama did this:

Never apologize for them.
Never appease them.
Never forget.

An asinine comparison by the Paper of Record.

Given that Linda Chavez was busy calling all people who opposed illegal immigration “racists” a while back, I think she’s lost all credibility on the race issue. She should pick a different topic.

If you start actually speaking about out-of-wedlock births, test scores, crime, disease and poverty, the Left accuses you of racism.

I asked a friend the other day, if I am stating facts, how is that racist? He said the PC Police and the sensitive Euro-Socialist/Democrat/Liberal bloc would rather not offend an offender than stand up for what is right.

The would rather die over a Marxist theory than offend those who rob, rape and murder.

Until a Caucasian can criticize black culture, which destroys lives and turns young men into thugs, without being called a racist we cannot have an open discussion on race.

No, we don’t. There’s only been two things that have immeasurably improved since integration-sports and the military. Why? because both activities put aside race, religion, and even political philosophy, in pursuing a common goal. NOBODY is “talking about race”, unless it’s over beers after a hard day’s work.

t has NOTHING to do with what color you are.

Sometimes it does...

I was raised as part of an enlisted Navy man's family. In San Diego, we lived in housing, next door to blacks, Mexicans, Puerto Ricans, and Filipinos. We were a minority on our block.

It didn't matter. Every mom kept an eye on the kids, and every dad was likely to administer a quick rebuke, or more. I learned to enjoy arroz con pollo, and jambalaya. My dad made home brew, and root beer for us kids. I remember many a night waking to the sound of popping caps, under my bed. They were everywhere (this was navy folk, ya know!).

We had good times , and respect for each other.

These days, skin color is not keeping us apart. It is more the result of gum't intervention in life! From placing armed troops on the door of a high school, to giving job preferences to ANYONE, not better qualified... the world is being shaped to make us butt heads. Fortunately, I can choose which side of the street, upon I wish to walk. I reserve the right to cross anytime I want, when I don't wish to comport with any one or many!

I just wish we could rid the world of sex perversion and obsession. When the word "gay" refers to perverts in penis costumes, and NAMBLA is a known entity...Someone is laughing, in the depths of the earth! Many of our politicians are laughing, as they take us down the dark path! How do we make it change, except through prayer. There doesn't seem to be any political opposition.

Come quickly, Lord...

I believe this election is going to highlight as never before the inanity of Blacks and poor whites, whose worship style and lifestyle are so similar, voting in opposite directions. Why does the Left ridicule poor whites for worshiping in a similar fashion to Blacks, whose church services are lauded and celebrated by the Left? Why do people who worship like hillbillies vote like hyper-intellectual secular humanists? And why in the sam hill does “race” itself seem to trump these much weightier issues? I’ll never understand conservatives who obsess over welfare, affirmative action, and alleged racial IQ differences (an issue more apropos for Darwinists than people who claim to believe in G-d) when the divergence in voting patterns of two such similar groups (and the divergence in how they are treated by the elite) simply screams for some sort of attention.

We don’t need a conversation about race or anything else that most think must still be guided by political correctness. And Linda Chavez has no credibility to be blabbing about race or ethnic matters. She’s too in the tank for her La Raza.

After my dad retired, I made friends with an old acquaintance. His dad was FILTHY rich. They OWNED a savings and loan. We spent a lot of time playing in our early teens. We came from diverse worlds.

We befriended a couple of black kids, in 1964 NC, as they were integrating the schools. I had always gone to school with different folk.

These new friends were a lawyer's kid, a doctor's kid, and a millwright's son. They were good people. It was bad at first, but people quickly caught on, that there are different colored folk, that are just different colored folk!!!

I admit a certain bigotry, when I see the thugs on TV. What disturbs me most, is that seemingly intelligent kids want to emulate them!

When you see the thug with gold around his neck, women on their knees in front of them, and all before the age of 30 - what can you expect of the smart ones?

I have no problem with a person's ethnicity (skin color).
The problem occurs with cultural differences. Ghetto
background as opposed to typical suburban background:
American individualism as opposed to tribalism. These
cultures are incompatible.

race is just a convenient reason for people to despise one another. if we were all the same color, it would still happen. there’s ample proof of this.
