The statement that Senator Edward M. Kennedys doctors issued on Tuesday made clear that his malignant tumor was a glioma, a cancer that arises in the brain and that often carries a bleak prognosis.
Gliomas occur more frequently with advancing age, and studies have shown that in general patients in their 70s fare less well than those 45 and younger. Still, the statement also said Mr. Kennedy, 76, was in good spirits and full of energy and walking around his room at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston.
Mr. Kennedys glioma is in the parietal area in the upper part of the left side of his brain, above the ear. This area of the brain involves motor control and ability to understand language, among other functions.
Malignant brain tumors rarely spread elsewhere in the body. But like the root of a plant, cancerous brain tumors can invade nearby areas in the brain.
Gliomas are categorized by subtypes and by a numerical gradation based on how aggressive they appear. But the doctors did not provide these details or the tumors size, saying only that the diagnosis was made by removing a small piece of the cancer in a biopsy, which followed a series of other tests that began after Mr...

Mr. Kennedy underwent surgery seven months ago at the same hospital to restore blood flow through a narrowed carotid artery in his neck and to prevent a possible stroke. He had no symptoms at the time, the hospital said.
As part of the testing for that procedure, Mr. Kennedy very likely had an M.R.I. brain scan, Dr. Keith L. Black, director of neurosurgery at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, said in answer to a question. Because gliomas are fast-growing cancers, it is possible...

The wrong person got out of the car back in 1969.
Everything Teddy has done since then has been to hurt the USA.
Psalms
Chapter 6
For the leader; with stringed instruments, “upon the eighth.” A psalm of David.
Do not reprove me in your anger, LORD, nor punish me in your wrath. Have pity on me, LORD, for I am weak; heal me, LORD, for my bones are trembling. In utter terror is my soul— and you, LORD, how long...?Turn, LORD, save my life; in your mercy rescue me. For who among the dead remembers you? Who praises you in Sheol? I am wearied with sighing; all night long tears drench my bed; my couch is soaked with weeping. My eyes are dimmed with sorrow, worn out because of all my foes. Away from me, all who do evil! The LORD has heard my weeping. The LORD has heard my prayer; the LORD takes up my plea. My foes will be terrified and disgraced; all will fall back in sudden shame.
I passionately disagree with Ted on just about everything, but I am truly saddened to hear of this. My prayers go out to him and his family.
In before the ZOT?
In before the mods...
Everything Teddy has done since then has been to hurt the USA."
There are those who inhabit this forum who will berate you for your lack of sensitivity. I am not one of those.
Ditto.
I would not feel compelled to talk about the nice things Pol Pot did during his life, at his death.
This is the worst type of primary brain malignancy. it tends to spread in a crab-like (hence the name cancer) to surrounding brain tissue. Surgical excision, radiotherapy, and chemotherapy all tend to be palliative rather than curative. Best wishes from a conservativebCalifornia physician to our liberal friend and his family.
God Bless Ted Kennedy
Wanted to jot this down before the mods delete it.
Should the millions of SE Asians who were killed or spent years in “reeducation camps” after Ted Kennedy led the charge to stab them in the back and cut of funding to the RVN all bless him?
Would you say good things about Pol Pot if you heard he had a brain tumor? Teddy Kennedy was Pol Pot’s biggest enabler. All of that blood is on BOTH of their hands.
Why would the mods delete it? What is not true about it?
Is there some PC rule on FR that says that when an evil man gets sick, we must pretend he was saint?
What’s one brain destroyed compared to an entire nation?
Parietal Lobe Tumors
Seizures, speech disturbances if the tumor is in the dominant (usually left) hemisphere, and loss of ability to write(agraphia) are common symptoms. Spatial disorders, such as difficulty with body orientation in space or recognition of body parts, may also occur.
He’s lived a full 76 years.
A privilege denied to untold millions.
May the Lord bless the cowardly murderer.
I personally cannot think of a more deserving person for this to have happened to.
I was under the impression that comments weren't supposed to assert violence or acts of violence, nor profanity. So far I haven't heard anyone call Ted a profane word or name, nor have I read any comment proposing violence against his person.
Pray for his coversion people!
No one in my immediate family has lived to be that age. Since longevity doesn't run in my family, I doubt I'll get to be that age either.
Personally, I’d prefer to have seen him slip off a dock in a drunken stupor, and wrap himself up in a lobster pot line about ten feet underwater.
Maybe then, he’d get a flash of MaryJo’s face. At last.
Get your kicks in now gang. This thread wont last long.
Don’t like Ted, but this is a bad thing to happen to anyone. However, I would feel worse were he not a 76 year-old multi-millionaire.
Why? The PC police?
Telling the truth is now verboten?
“You know, Hitler was great around children, and he really loved dogs. And that autobahn! Great highway!”
good point, how did he not drop dead of a heart attack 10 years ago?
Are you old enough to remember when JFK was assassinated? I am. He was a crappy president and then after his death, he was Saint JFK.
Yep, I was in highschool when JFK was killed. I remember it like it was yesterday. Ah yes, the myth of Camelot. Another pile of crap sold by the media.
Someone smarter than me said that, “the Lord works in mysterious ways.”
May God have mercy on him and his family.
Sure, and when the people over at DU say evil things about conservatives that have fallen ill, they are evil.
And he made the trains run on time. Wait a minute, that was that other good fellow, Benito Mussolini.
If his record is evil, as in his cutting off funding to the RVN, then I will not apologize for being truthful.
If you want to be a PC lapdog, that's up to you. I'm not playing. TK did horrible, evil things during his entire career in the Senate. Many of America's current deep problems stem from bills he sponsored or supported.
And the millions murdered in SE Asia after his colossal act of treachery and dishonor are still dead.
I am not a big fan of Teddy’s either but he is in my prayers.
Was it Evil for Gov, Reagan to sign a bill liberalizing the California Abortion laws in 1967?
We all deserve death; it’s foolish to split hairs about who deserves to die first.
Not one Vietnamese or Cambodian will be brought back to life by whooping about the old man’s bleak prognosis.
Ted led a wasted life causing untold damage and destruction to millions.
Since Teddy is an Irishman I will wish him well.
I’m not “whooping” about an old man’s bleak prognosis.
I’m simply not putting on blinders, and pretending a real bastard was a belated saint.
From Mary Jo Kopechne to SE Asia to immigration and welfare and quotas and on and on, his record has meant death and sowing the seeds of future disaster.
Forgive me for not putting on my rose colored sunglasses for his wake and singing Danny Boy with you.
I remember his record.
How nice for him that he got to become old...to have grandkids...to live a very privledged life!
btt
Leavened by an entire life and body of works that supported life, supported the military, supported personal responsibility and freedom around the world.
Unlike TK, whose lifetime body of works was to sow disaster and run away from responsibility.
They have deleted a lot of stuff said about Teddy lately that was both true and less to the point than your "The wrong person got out of the car back in 1969." & "Everything Teddy has done since then has been to hurt the USA." comments.
I agree and would say more, but I am standing by my late Mother's old adage that if you cannot find anything nice to say about someone, then do not say anything!
So I am closed mouth on this
When a man is discovered to have cancer, the pertinent fact is that he is a dying man, not whether he is a dying good man or dying bad man.
God will judge him soon enough.
AMEN!
Teddy was a disaster for America. God is more forgiving than I am. May Teddy find faith before he dies.
That is an awful cancer. He likely has less than 6 months.
Again, I am no fan of TK who with Bush gave us No Child Left Behind and damn near gave us an Amnesty Bill.
However, because of those things he is simply a misguided politician. Perhaps, he will come to grips with his mistakes but neither RR, GWB or TK are Evil.
Sorry I don’t agree. Now is when the MSM will be laying in the mythology about Saint Teddy the Benificent.
Now is exactly when we need to remind Americans that he was a scoundrel and a cad, before the false history is carved into stone.
Pol Pot also died an old man, in ill health. And I spit on his grave.
