I Read a story in the Washington Post about the death of a young woman. This ultra-huge died in her sleep. Her mom blamed it on obesity. Possibly so ... her mom is obese herself.
In the story the mom bemoans the lack of "affordable" weight loss clinics and exercise facilities. Oh boy ... here we go. As we know, in the modern USA every single item or service that a person could possibly need or even want must be affordable. The new mantra is that there is something wrong with our country, our economy and our government if someone wants something they can't afford to buy. Uh oh! Suddenly we have an issue of "affordability!" So look out folks ... here comes the call for "affordable" weight loss clinics and exercise spas. How do we make them affordable? Why, through tax credits or other taxpayer-funded subsidies, of course.
They had a memorial party for the teenager. Featured at the party were all of her favorite fried foods.
AFFORDABLE GYMS! I’ll quote you my husband when I mention that I want to go to a tanning salong: “THE SUN IS FREE!”
I’ve struggled with weight myself, so I can say it: EAT LESS, EXERCISE MORE. There’s no one else to blame.
I’d say, eat whatever, but exercise a lot. With consistent exercise, when people see themselves shaping up, other things start to fall in place automatically, especially on the appetite front.
Well certainly Burger King’s double-whopper with cheese, super-sized fries and 44 oz soft drink packed with high fructose corn syrup is much more affordable than a 210 calorie teriyaki chicken salad with water at Subway, right?
In my town, they’re about the same price.
Around here, when we are tired from the garden chores, building maintenence and cutting firewood, we say:”At least we are saving the cost of a gym membership.”
I think you’re right. Its not simply that the exercise burns some more calories, but that when you’re making the commitment to get the exercise, you’re less likely to do really really stupid stuff on the food side of the equation. I need to lose about 30 pounds, myself.
These Lard-asses are an unintended result of the politically-correct diet: low fat, no red meat, “complex carbs”, blah, blah, blah. Problem is, that’s not what our digestive system implies our diet should be. See: http://www.paleodiet.com/
So, as long as we continue on this low/no-meat, high carbs, diet - especially high fructose corn syrup - we will be breeding a bunch of lard asses.
But Obama says we can’t eat all we want because other countries would not approve of that behavior..
Oh, and don’t say nuttin about his wife either..
The simple and humane solution to this problem, at least for some of us, is to make sure that your government-issued Welfare food card will not buy any processed foods. Milk, eggs, meat, rice, vegetables, and that kind of thing would be available for free to those below the poverty line. However, if you want fun food like potatoe chips, Cheeze Whiz, and candy bars, you have to pay in cash. Fatty foods? Get a job like the rest of us who abuse our bodies.
It doesn’t matter which of those one chooses if he is not going to move after eating it.
In my 40 years, I have eaten a HELL of a lot more double whoppers with cheese than I have teriyaki chicken. I’m 6’1, 165. But then, I move.
Blaming food for making people fat is like blaming guns for shooting people.
It costs a fortune, but I’ve been buying imported Coca-Cola from Mexico. Real sugar!
It does not cost money to lose weight. It costs money to maintain and even increase body mass.
If she ate less she could afford the fees.
It costs a lot less to buy a head of lettuce and an apple than a KFC crispy dinner. It would also save on the health insurance costs.
Me too....brought a scythe....get exercise and cut the grass/hay on the property.
Most neighbours have $2000 ride mowers.
Perhaps she might have survived a bit longer with a few less cheeseburgers and little bit of exercise.
New DEMOCRATIC Plan — ‘FREE GYMS to all!!’ Why should the RICH afford to go to the GYM.
Lardass.
Isn’t that the name Madonna gave to her daughter? I wondered about it at the time, but maybe she was being prescient.
psst, hey mom, I see the PROBLEM!! FRIED FOODS?? Ever thought of cooking HEALTHY for her?
Another new DEMOCRATIC PLAN - 'Free Cooking Lessons'. I mean not everyone can AFFORD to get the FOOD NETWORK!
Dot-not-feather.
Not a bad name for an Indian, I guess.
