Cheap Tomatoes And Cheap Labor - The Fallacy

Cheap Tomatoes And Cheap Labor

CHEAP TOMATOES? This should make everyone think, be you Democrat, Republican or Independent. From a California school teacher - - - 'As you listen to the news about the student protests over illegal immigration, there are some things that you should be aware of:

I am in charge of the English-as-a-second-language department at a large southern California high school which is designated a Title 1 school, meaning that its students average lower social economic and income levels.

Most of the schools you are hearing about, South Gate High, Bell Gardens , Huntington Park , etc., where these students are protesting, are also Title 1 schools.

Title 1 schools are on the free breakfast and free lunch program. When I say free breakfast, I'm not talking a glass of milk and roll -- but a full breakfast and cereal bar with fruits and juices that would make a Marriott proud. The waste of this food is monumental, with trays and trays of it being dumped in the trash uneaten. (OUR TAX DOLLARS AT WORK)

I estimate that well over 50% of these students are obese or at least moderately overweight. About 75% or more DO have cell phones. The school also provides day care centers for the unwed teenage pregnant girls (some as young as 13) so they can attend class without the inconvenience of having to arrange for babysitters or having family watch their kids. (OUR TAX DOLLARS AT WORK)

I was ordered to spend $700,000 on my department or risk losing funding for the upcoming year even though there was little need for anything; my budget was already substantial. I ended up buying new computers for the computer learning center, half of which, one month later, have been carved with graffiti by the appreciative students who obviously feel humbled and grateful to have a free education in America . (OUR TAX DOLLARS AT WORK)

I have had to intervene several times for young and substitute teachers whose classes consist of many illegal immigrant students here in the country less then 3 months who raised so much hell with the female teachers, calling them 'Putas' (whores) and throwing things, that the teachers were in tears.

Free medical, free education, free food, day care etc., etc, etc. Is it any wonder they feel entitled to not only be in this country but to demand rights, privileges and entitlements?

To those who want to point out how much these illegal immigrants contribute to our society because they LIKE their gardener and housekeeper and they like to pay less for tomatoes: spend some time in the real world of illegal immigration and see the TRUE costs. Higher insurance, medical facilities closing, higher medical costs, more crime, lower standards of education in our schools, overcrowding, new diseases etc., etc, etc. For me, I'll pay more for tomatoes.

We need to wake up. The guest worker program will be a disaster because we won't have the guts to enforce it.

Does anyone in their right mind really think they will voluntarily leave and return?

It does, however, have everything to do with culture: A third-world culture that does not value education, that accepts children getting pregnant and dropping out of school by 15 and that refuses to assimilate, and an American culture that has become so weak and worried about 'political correctness' that we don't have the will to do anything about it.

If this makes your blood boil, as it did mine, forward this to everyone you know.

CHEAP LABOR? Isn't that what the whole immigration issue is about? Business doesn't want to pay a decent wage. Consumers don't want expensive produce. Government will tell you Americans don't want the jobs.

But the bottom line is cheap labor. The phrase 'cheap labor' is a myth, a farce, and a lie. There is no such thing as 'cheap labor.'

Take, for example, an illegal alien with a wife and five children. He takes a job for $5.00 or 6.00/hour. At that wage, with six dependents, he pays no income tax, yet at the end of the year, if he files an Income Tax Return, he gets an 'earned income credit' of up to $3,200 free.

He qualifies for Section 8 housing and subsidized rent. He qualifies for food stamps. He qualifies for free (no deductible, no co-pay) health care.

His children get free breakfasts and lunches at school. He requires bilingual teachers and books.

He qualifies for relief from high energy bills.

If they are or become, aged, blind or disabled, they qualify for SSI. Once qualified for SSI they can qualify for Medicare. All of this is at (our) taxpayer's expense.

He doesn't worry about car insurance, life insurance, or homeowners insurance.

Taxpayers provide Spanish language signs, bulletins and printed material. He and his family receive the equivalent of $20.00 to $30.00/hour in benefits.

Working Americans are lucky to have $5.00 or $6.00/hour left after paying their bills and his.

The American taxpayers also pay for increased crime, graffiti and trash clean-up.

Cheap labor? YEAH RIGHT! Wake up people!

THESE ARE THE QUESTIONS WE SHOULD BE ADDRESSING TO THE PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATES FOR EITHER PARTY. 'AND WHEN THEY LIE TO US AND DON'T DO AS THEY SAY, WE SHOULD REPLACE THEM AT ONCE!'

THIS HAS GOT TO BE PASSED ALONG TO AS MANY AS POSSIBLE OR WE WILL ALL GO DOWN THE DRAIN BECAUSE A FEW DON'T CARE . AMEN!!!

Hi, The following excellent piece was allegedly written by a California school teacher who is in charge of a high school “English-as-a-second-language” program. Whoever is the author, it is a partial explanation of why “cheap tomatoes” are not cheap.

A complete explanation would involve two factors besides costs to tax-payers.

1] Environmental damage from a rapidly growing population that is exploding way past the carrying capacity of the United States. Total population size is exploding way past the natural carrying capacity including fresh water and energy, as well as the built infrastructure including hospitals, bridges, and the interstate commerce system.

2] Job losses and wage depression among Americans who are forced into direct competition with an invading illegal and legal alien labor force. According to Harvard Professor George Borjas, Americans lose over $200 billion in wages, annually, because of the invading immigrant labor force.

Mexicans, Guatemalans and others have enjoyed large families for several generations while Americans have tried to be responsible parents to 2 or 3 children. American mothers and fathers have largely gone to work rather than have the enjoyment of babies and large families. Why should the foresighted US population now be punished with an onslaught of foreigners who did not give thought to their own or their children’s future?

Someone sold this country a bill of goods that cheap prices make everything better and justify diluting our country and destroying our manufacturing base. BS. I liked it when things were made here and we paid more for them and they were better quality ( most of the time ).

I am tired of hearing how these criminals ( yes they are all criminals ) boost our economy. It is a lie.

Welfare drives illegal immigration. I the welfare class would work, the illegals couldn’t get jobs.

So seriously, what do we do? I’m up for anything, but with the internet available, we could at least organize a tax revolt of some kind. I favor a lawsuit, however. Lawyers will tell you that you can’t sue government officials because the citizenry already has a means of recourse, namely, we can vote them out and replace them with others. But clearly, that no longer works. We vote for Propositions like 187, pass it overwhelmingly, and then a commie judge tosses out the result as ‘unconstitutional’. Both parties can be shown to be sellouts on this issue, so we really have no remedy. And we probably have no attorneys with enough guts to take on a case like this. But somebody should.

Short of armed revolution I am at a loss. You are right in the fact that we cannot seem to un-elect anyone and when we get lucky that one moves on or dies we elect another one who seems conservative but turns out to be a socialist liar after one year in office.

I still say that the RATS are relying on uninsured illegals to help bring on a collapse of our health care system. Then they can “save us” by coming to the rescue with national health insurance, and control over a huge and very important economic sector/ industry. Couple that with a decades long effort to restrict the growth of any kind of good energy supply in our country, how can you NOT think that liberals are trying to ruin our country.

We have been in a giant card game of hearts and the RATS are just about to catch ALL the hearts in this hand.

So what is the answer???? We can all sit in front of these computers and talk about it. The government won’t do anything the way it is now...........something has to change and change fast. The only thing I can see is if the people make the change. First of all, starve them out. All companies need to kuckle under and get rid of them. If companies do this and advertise that they only hire citizens of this country, we will patronize them. Companies that hire illegals need to be run out of business....not just fined.

The politicians want voters. Most of us will grumble but fall back in line when the Supreme Court or something comes up.

“collapse of our health care system”??? I think they want the collapse of our whole country for the sake of bringing Mexico, Canada and the US together. Problem is, we will all suffer.

Works for me. I already spend my money that way as much as I can. If I know they hire illegals I look elsewhere. Sometimes though that is all that is out there.

The thing that gets me is that here’s the illegals, obvious lawbreakers, some of whom wandered across the desert, etc. It takes some nads.

Then here we are, and we’re so worried about the price of gas, or so hypnotized by American Idol or whatever, that we DON’T EVEN HAVE THE STONES to DEMAND THE POLITICIANS DO THEIR JOBS!

In a sense, we’ve lost already, cause we’re just wussified.

So seriously, what do we do?

Put a tortilla on your car antenna and drive north until someone asks you what it is. Proceed one more hour and buy a house. It will probably be in the Yukon.

We have been on this path for 55/60 years or even more. Long range planning ... proceeding step by step and incrementally ... like the frog that starts off in cool water and ends up cooked. Along with changes in education of our children and political correctness. Bit by bit we have swallowed the hook line and sinker.

Too little too late ... is the position in which we are currently sitting. The good news is ... it could be worse ...
and the bad news is ... it soon will be worse. Too few get involved.

There was a time when I believed that Rush was going to effect a change; however, it seems that he really only gives us a place to let off steam and the illusion that something is happening when it is mostly air. Tooo bad!

Nope, ain’t gonna do that, not going to give up the best land that America has to offer to a bunch of heathens. I really feel the guns will come out at some point, and I’m ready to roll. Bunch of people all over this country about ready for it anyway, pretty much had enough. Let’s roll!!!

“WE DON’T EVEN HAVE THE STONES...”

That’s not it. Facts are, most of us work all day, all week, and in the small amount of ‘free time’ we have, try to raise families the best we can. And while we carry this country’s burden, subversive elements spend all day undermining what has been built here, most of the time in a way that we cannot monitor very closely or accurately. Fortunately, the information is getting around, hopefully in such a way that some action steps can be organized and implemented.

“The American taxpayers also pay for increased crime, graffiti and trash clean-up.”

I always thought the real reason Houston’s Astroworld closed was because of the Latingang activity in the park. As we become a 3rd world county we can say goodbye to these type of things.

Baloney. A new problem afflicting our young people is obesity. Heck, we burn corn in our autos.
