Gathering of Eagles has just announced Recruiter Appreciation Day, Saturday, May 17 or there abouts.

Being a Saturday, some recruiter stations have shortened hours or are closed. Friday or Monday might be a better day.

As in other Support the Troop Events, one organization steps forward to be the main coordinating organization. GoE has once again stepped up to the plate this year. Check out the GOE site for pertinent info. Hopefully no one doubles up on a Recruiter Station while one across town is neglected.

We need to get rolling on this also. Both the Silver Spring, MD and the L & 13th St., Wash., D.C. centers are dear to our hearts. Both have been vandalized one way or another in the last two years.

The D.C. chapter is going to visit two recruiter centers during lunch time on Friday, May 16.

1. Georgia Avenue, Silver Spring,MD Center

2. L St. between 13th & 14th Sts., NW, Wash., D.C. Center

For those who are scattered around these great United States, please organize a local visit with Mary-Sheba Graves at Gathering of Eagles Recruiter Appreciation Day. Last year the recruiters we visited were so skepitcal of it...it took weeks of calls and emails to get approval (thanks code pink!) This year, one call was all it took and they are so excited as are we.

We brought pizza last year and supplimented it with soda and baked goods my kids made (will do that again this year) along with thank you cards and such.

We took it all over with red, white and blue stuff (cups, balloons, plates, etc) and they really enjoyed it.

We only stayed for about 20 minutes, but we all got so much out of it. What a joy to do it again this year!

Last year I took Little Ceasar’s pizza and drinks over to a Army recruiter in the Burbank mall. They didn’t believe that I would really show when I called to express my plans. They were surprised, and elated.

Little Ceasar’s supports the troops.
