It already is collapsing — the question is really, “Will the government stop it from going into the toilet?”

I bet it is. This is an historic move, something one might not see again in a life time (or might be seeing daily for the next few years). It is the no-brainer trade of the decade for forex, though once I finally get involved you know it is over.

The dollar vs. the Indian rupee has decreased in value too. Last year it was 43Rp/Dollar, this week it's ~40Rp. 2 years ago it was 47Rp/Dollar.
Outsourcing to India is getting more expensive. Perhaps they will start outsourcing to the USA.

Will the government stop it from going into the toilet? The government has no tool to stop it other than massive, immediate tax cuts and regulatory relief.
The odds against that happening are greater than the odds against you falling into the Sun.

I was sure it was included when I sent this to be posted. But thanks anyway.

"greater" = "better".
I should stop now, it has been a long day.

On a trade-weighted basis, the dollar is now south of its late-70s low point and close to its historic nadir of the mid-1990s. Wait. We are told that a weak Dollar is Bad, but Hillary want to return things to the way they were in the 90's (when things were "good?"). If a weak dollar was good when Clinton was President, why are they bad when Bush is President?
Can someone please explain?

Bravo! Now let’s see how far they let us sink, before they restore the respect for the American dollar that we once had.

Will Uncle Sam let the dollar collapse?Who the (bleep) is "Uncle Sam"? Will our "compassionate" government let the dollar collapse?
Yes. Not intentionally - the "stimulus" is supposed to prevent this from happening, right? Right? But yes, the government will let the dollar collapse.
Then we will get more tax cuts but with even bigger budgets and deficits.

the worst part is that i have been looking for ongoing declines in the dollar for months (since the subprime stuff caused the fed to jack the m3 growth rate through the roof in late fall), but being in a broker-dealer that has no futures access, I have never had much of an easy way to take a forex position.
Philly currency options suck as far as I can tell (one guy has used them for years, have heard lots of stories from him and from hearing him talk to them), maybe i am wrong.

I can't speak for the U.K. housing market....but I can speak for us here. The problem here started with the sub prime collapse (actually before that, but that's a while other story!). Now it's people sitting on their hands not spending. But "somebody" has the big idea to give us all (approx) $600.00 and THAT will "stimulate" the economy! Yeah, right! Once the $600 is spent and gone, does anybody honestly believe we're all going to go out and spend like we did BEFORE fuel prices and inflation grew to what they are now?
I'll tell you what we're going to do...as will everybody else. .. We're going to take the cash before it's worthless and convert it into something with intrinsic value, and then go back to NOT SPENDING. Whether we purchase big screen T.V.s, or computers, or guns and ammo....it doesn't matter. Everybody is going to spend it, and then STOP again.
They're getting to the point (the Fed) where they're simply printing "Monopoly Money", and certain of us are quitting the "game". We don't pass "go" anymore, we don't take anything from them, and we don't use their "paper" unless we absolutely must.

I sent that link to a buddy of mine at the agency. He worked at the NYSE for several years and understands it all much better than I do. He hasn't gotten back with me yet. I'll see him Monday.
I'll let you know if he has any insight on it!
