M3 in other countries has been as high, and in some cases higher, than the US M3 rate.

Isn't a recession determined by consecutive drops in the GNP?

That's about right.

Outsourcing to India is not done from a position of strength for many companies. It's done short term to save money. There's a lot of overhead involved in managing a remote workforce, communications issues, scheduling.

Even though their wages have gone up there is still a lot of turnover in the Indian job market. Talking 25% turnover. They will take a new position for a 10 cent/hour raise.

Last week, America's currency fell again - dropping more than 2 per cent in euro terms, to $1.5779.

A steaming pile is an excellent way to lead off a steaming essay.

They can raise interest rates...

Short-term interest rates charged to banks who seek to borrow at the Fed.

I'm not saying it would be pleasant, but I'll tell ya....this gov. has pulled some stuff that I NEVER would have believed we'd sit still for..and I don't trust our so called leaders any farther than I could throw ‘em....they are shysters, and continually try to put stuff thru under the radar and unbeknownst to the American public.
As for Canada, I was greatly pleased to read an article here on Freepers last year about some Canadians contacting their gov. and being quite upset about the articles that managed to find their way into print about the shenanigans down in Texas and the “agreement” laid out between Fox, Bush and the then leader of Canada. The Canadians were late to finding out just as we were. I hope there is a time when Canadians and Americans do indeed rise up and shout “ NO MORE...WE'RE MAD AS HELL AND WE'RE NOT GOING TO TAKE IT ANYMORE”.
