Top Clinton Adviser Says Superdelegates Will Decide Election, Obama's Victories 'Irrelevant'

Saturday , February 16, 2008

A top Hillary Clinton adviser on Saturday boldly predicted his candidate would lock down the nomination before the August convention by definitively winning over party insiders and officials known as superdelegates, claiming the number of state elections won by rival Barack Obama would be "irrelevant" to their decision.

The claims no doubt will escalate the war of words between the campaigns, as Obama continues to argue superdelegates should vote the way of their districts. But the special class of delegates, which make up about 20 percent of the total delegate haul, are not bound to vote the way of their states and districts, as pledged delegates are.

Obama leads handily in the pledged delegate count and has won more states but trails Clinton in superdelegates, making them potential and controversial deadlock-breakers if the race ends up a dead heat come convention time.

Harold Ickes, a 40-year party operative charged with winning over superdelegates for the Clinton campaign, made no apologies on Saturday for the campaign's convention strategy.

"We're going to win this nomination," Ickes said, adding that they would do so soon after the last contest on June 7 in Puerto Rico. "You're not going to see this go to the convention floor."

You go, girl!

The first Clinton, Inc. Presidency nearly destroyed the Demagogue Party.

With any luck, a second would finish the job.

If this happens, it may finally convince blacks that the Dims are not their friends.

But...but...but the will of the people is being thwarted. The voters are being disenfranchised!

On the good side, this ain’t gonna sit well with the rank and file RATs. Maybe the RATs are going to bleed out a significant portion of their base like Pubbies are doing now.

Yeah...pass the popcorn... You know, you couldn't make this stuff up. What fabulous entertainment. Problem is, no matter who gets the Dem nomination, our choice will still be between two Dems.

1) FBI files are very useful for keeping recalcitrant party members in line. The collective knows about all your little secrets. (What sort of investigation was able to bring forth an Obama essay that he did IN FIRST GRADE? The Clintons must have 200 or 300 investigators on their “research staff.”

2) Ickes is his name.

If this happens, it may finally convince blacks that the Dims are not their friends.

In my opinion that is far too much to hope for.

I'm hoping that if Hillary pulls it out and does so in an ugly, Clintonesque way, that this will demoralize all of the earnest young college age and twenty-something lefties and thus deprive the 'Rats of their footsoldiers for the fall campaign.

As soon as Hillary completes her heist, I intend to go on all of the leftie boards and "quit" the Democratic party in disgust.

Ickes is a little twerp who hides behind the powerful. Hopefully Clinton will get her ass kicked and he can go off into the sunset with her.

Arrogance is her mantra, but if indeed, the superdelegates throw the race to Hillary in contravention of the popular votes or elected electors, then I am all for it. I want to see the ads (527 ads from amused Republicans and I am one) that reflect a picture of Hillary cackling as some Uncle Tom whips chained blacks as they shuffle back through a gate with a big Democrat Plantation sign over it. Some voice overs might include Obama touting change, crying and someone sarcastically shouting “and you thought you were free, Ha.” The blacks will at least sit out or maybe even re-assess who has really done what for whom since the civil rights acts.

Harold Ickes is not so widely known as some of clinton’s other spinmeisters, but he is one of the worst. A real mobster.

a few days back, some Freeper did a nice analysis...and determined that neither candidate could get to the 2200 + delegates needed for the nomination.

This thing is going to at least a 2nd vote and if it does, Obama probably gets more delegaes. If goes past 2 votes, look for Al Gore to be the compromise, if he wants it.
