The U.S. government is investigating a Chinese manufacturing plant as a possible source of the problems with a Baxter International brand name blood thinner that has been linked to four deaths and hundreds of allergic reactions.
According to a report by the Associated Press, the Food and Drug Administration is looking into "all possible sources of the problem" that has developed in recent weeks with the use of the drug heparin, which is sold by Baxter and used by patients in danger of having their blood clot.
Erin Gardiner, a spokeswoman for Baxter, told AP her company buys the active ingredient for heparin from a company that makes it both at a Chinese factory as well as a facility inside the United States.
The company reported it did inspections at both locations and discovered no "quality issues" in 2007, she said. She said there will be new inspections "very soon" because of the problems that have developed.
FDA officials said on their website that their investigation would include the Chinese manufacturing location and Baxter's plant in New Jersey, where the final work on its product is completed.
The Wall Street Journal reported the agency never had completed an inspection at the Chinese plant, but FDA spokeswoman Karen Riley declined to confirm that for the AP.
WND recently reported three corporations, including two from China, were indicted for selling contaminated proteins to a company that supplied pet food makers in the U.S.
The tainted pet food was blamed for the deaths of dozens, perhaps hundreds, of house pets last year and an inflation in the fear American consumers felt toward products from China amidst a long series of reports about contaminated products ranging from sardines to toothbrushes.

...btw, this is how China is going to kick off the invasion of Taiwan: sudden, massive lacing of dozens or hundreds of food and medicine feedstocks with lethal substances. "Accidentally" of course.
Concurrently with trojan horse and denial-of-service attacks on all major govt. and many commercial servers, simultaneously.
The U.S. will have hundreds or thousands of dead overnight and be in no state to respond militarily.
NO cheers, unfortunately.
remove their most favored nation status and boycott the olympics....
NOW
The call it ‘Free Trade’.
Prayers for the families that lost loved ones.
This has to be the limit of our endurance of the Globalist venture. We cannot even buy product in the Supermarket anymore without inspecting the label to know where it came from much less the labeling as to what the product is comprised.
I’d bet the drug wasn’t labeled with anything denoting the Chinese manufactured component(s) that would give a wary patient an opportunity to not purchase the product as my wife had at the store with seafood product yesterday.
“Made in China” is not made for our purchase anymore.
80% of the prescription drugs sold in the US have some Chinese manufactured ingredients, but there is no law requiring that this be on the label.
This must be changed, or all the platitudes about “the patient’s rights” are bogus.
Inspections only work if nobody knows they're coming. If they're announced, they have time to clean things up.
No they don’t. You do.
I’m on Coumadin (Warfarin.) I wonder if any of that is made in China as well :(
Why are we getting ANY medicine or food products from China?
Our elected officials from both parties have sold this nation out, and people go along willingly in the name of lower prices.
Reminds me of the title of Judge Napolitano’s book: A Nation of Sheep.
Re: This has to be the limit of our endurance of the Globalist venture.
No. You have it all wrong. Free trade is good for everyone. /Freeper NAFTA think
Yet our own drug companies can import meds from China... a country KNOWN for ignoring safety and hygiene.

*************************************************
Coumadin is RAT POISON ... or at least thats what it was originally used for... It creates uncontrolled bleeding in mammals... you can buy it by the pound at any country feed store... of course for humans they take it from 99% pure to 100% pure to avoid unpredictable side effects... of course it also raises the price per gram by a factor of 1000 or more. Chances are the Coumadin is bought in bulk from whoever is cheapest and then put through a re-refining/purification process by the “manufacturer” .
What % tariff should we place on poisonous Chinese products to make them acceptable? /Freeper protectionist think
Here’s more. LSA
Add to the tainted list = candy lollyipops with metal slivers...made in China.
The Chinese are salivating for our STIMULUS MONEY!!!
