SALINAS, California - Sen. Hillary Clinton won the endorsement of the United Farm Workers on Tuesday in Salinas, California, where she was greeted by supporters chanting Viva Hillary, Viva Hillary.
The farm workers union said it believes Hillary Clinton to be the strongest, most experienced candidate for President of the United States. She will be able to tackle our nations toughest problems - health care, improving the economy for working people and repairing our countrys standing in the world.
Founded in 1962 by Cesar Chavez and Dolores Huerta, the UFW now represents some 27,000 workers.
The farmworkers are problem solvers and were together going to solve the problems facing agriculture, fixing our broken immigration system and giving people just wages and fair working conditions, Clinton said at a rally in Salinas, an agricultural area immortalized in the novel East of Eden by John Steinbeck, who was born in Salinas.
As Cesar Chavez said, the fight is never about grapes or about lettuce, it is always about people and that is what this campaign is about, Clinton said.
Many of those in the enthusiastic crowd greeting Clinton were Hispanic, shouting chants of Viva Hillary. Clinton and her Democratic rival Sen. Barack Obama have been vying for the support of Hispanic voters who could play a key role in nominating contests in such states such as Calfiornia and Arizona, where Clinton campaigned later on Tuesday.

Does anyone kn ow how to get vomit out of a keyboard?
“The farm workers union said it believes Hillary Clinton to be the strongest, most experienced candidate for President of the United States. I think these people have been out in the sun too long.
By the way, I really don’t think your average farm worker gives two you-know-whats about our country’s standing in the world. That’s liberal union-speak.
UNIONS = COMMUNISM
HILLARY = COMMUNISM
Any Questions?
How do they feel about illegal scab labor coming across the border to work below minimum wage?
I see in the first pic she is practicing the lewinsky pose!
Most of thise “farm workers” are illegals and are inelligible to vote. But then again, it’s Hillary Clinton. The dead will rise to vote for her come November.
UFW has backed all the immigration bills beginning with AgJobs in 2003.
The real question is will the growers/processors back Hillary. After all, it is the GOP who is blocking the H2A ag worker visa reform, which the growers and processors desperately need.
In contrast to this “The Rainbow Coalition Evaporates; Black anger grows as illegal immigrants transform urban neighborhoods”
I saw Caesar Chavez speak one time. He was drumming up a consumer scare against table grapes (around the time of the alar apple scare).
He ultimately let it slip that he wanted students to boycott table grapes but not wine or raisins. They weren’t his union and he didn’t seem to think there was any risk to the consumers. He also stressed the medical plans he wanted the members of his union to receive.
Illegal labor doesn’t have a union and doesn’t get benefits. Day labor is what you pick up loitering on a corner. Paid in cash. Like radio of old.
And today he’s branded as the hispanic MLK. Some cities even have streets named after him.
MUY BUENO!!!!
Muchos gracias illegalistas!!!!!!
Looks like this is ANOTHER good reason for American Citizens to vote out the witch.
