94% of Evangelicals Rank Abortion No. 1

A new report from the Barna Group warns political campaigns that assuming the evangelical vote is "splintering" over abortion would be a mistake, with 19 of every 20 members of that group citing the issue as their top concern.

The report comes just as the U.S. marks the 35th anniversary of the Roe v. Wade decision in the U.S. Supreme Court that found in the Constitution a fundamental right to terminate a pregnancy at any time for any reason.

"One of the myths about the 2008 election is that the evangelical vote is splintering over issues such as abortion and homosexuality. In fact, when defined based upon a consistent set of theological perspectives, evangelicals remain very united on abortion and homosexuality," said David Kinnaman, president of the Barna Group and director of the study.

Let me add to that. When we say Abortion is #1 on our concerns....thats another way of saying that JUDGES are number one on our list of concerns.

We now have three social liberals as frontrunners.... not a one that can be trusted with appointing judges.

One of the few remaining reasons for me to go to the polls in November.

no we only have one candidate who is openly pro abortion, couldn't win a single state so far and his campaign is about to end very soon in Florida.

It’s as it should be. The War against Islamofacists is important. But even they won’t be murdering more than a million of us this year.

Abortion has been the #1 focus of the Catholic Church for ages.

Catechism of the Catholic Church and what it says about those who support abortion

Indeed. I'm not discounting the threat of wahabbists, but all the death camps in 1940's Germany don't stack up to the holocaust of innocent baby slaughter in America.

Until a Supreme Court can be packed with anti-Roe justices, this obsession over abortion serves only to help Democrats.

The overriding issue is national security. Anyone who sits this one out because of Roe is jeopardizing their security and mine.

I would say it’s the same percentage among us church going Catholics. Don’t think for a minute that Democrat politicians that claim to be Catholic represent the views of American Catholics. Those fools are nothing more than CINOs (Catholis In Name Only).

Well, I'm a Catholic and the #1 issue for me is illegal immigration. If amnesty happens, it will give the country a Democratic majority for at least a generation. That would ensure abortion is legal for at least that long. The best way to end abortion is to vote for the candidates most anti-amnesty, which will allow for conservative judges on the Supreme Court to continue being added and eventually overthrowing the Roe v Wade decision.

The President cannot do much to end abortion in this country.

The President only signs legislation that has already gone through Congress.

And such legislation would be challenged by the Supreme Court.

And the President can attempt to influence the decisions of an activist court operating outside of the bounds of their responsiblity by appointing his own judges but that is a “if” they get approved and “if” there is a case and “if” they decide as the pro-life people hope they will and IF no later court comes along to overturn the decision (the Supreme Court has reversed itself numerous times).

SO the solution to the abortion question is the same as the solution to the slavery question. A Constitutional amendment.

if the candidate is unwilling to advocate such a change, he’s only pimping for your continued support on a “long range” issue rather than seeking a conclusion to the slaughter.

The number one issue is stopping the socialist agenda from expanding the power of government (under the guise of socialized medicine).

Number two is dealing with illegal immigration. I oppose amnesty. The spineless citizens of this country say “you can’t deport them all” and “a fence doesn’t work” and we can’t have an international incident with the Mexican military that is already invading this country.

IF we do not put an END to the illegal immigrants coming INTO this country, they will continue to flow in even AFTER amnesty has been granted to the current 20million illegal immigrants.

Under the business model endorsed by politicians and “church leaders” in this country, we “need” these immigrant workers to do the jobs that are beneath American citizens. And we are told the success stories of those who immigrate to this country as unskilled workers and start their own businesses. At some point, they move up the social ladder and more illegal immigrants must come in at the bottom to work for less than the national minimum wage. It is an endless cycle. IT DOESN’T WORK.

BUT if there is socialist medicine in this country, everyone will be sponging off of it whether they have contributed or not. As it stands billions of dollars are wired home to Mexico. How much of that money should be going to paying for services for illegal immigrants in this country? If they are “poor”, it is because they have voluntarily sent money home. We cannot allow the Left to expand the safety net. You will not be able to cast it off for generations. Your personal freedom to seek private care will be gone.

I may not be able to find a candidate who will push for a Constitutional amendment (and such course of action takes years to ratify) but I don’t see the value in a candidate who says we MAY get some judges who can turn the tide through the courts.

Give me a candidate who says he opposes federal funding of fetal stem cell research, federal funding of abortion, and a prohibition on human cloning.

If the mad scientists get the “wonder cure”, the fountain of youth they are sure exists, they will need to “create” embryos to harvest the parts from. The existing “supply” of “ethical” parts is too limited. The medical industry will require more to actual use in patients.

Well it's mine too. It isn't this little "oh by the way" issue on the side. Abortion has shaped our culture, harming millions of women and slaughtering millions of tiny tots along the way. Not hundreds, not thousands.

Abortion has also cheapened extramarital, animal-like sex, and paved the way for its widespread normalization through the various channels of pop culture on the silver screen, the airwaves, and raiment.

Abortion is evil, has a well-deserved negative stigma, and it is little surprise that even most pro-choicers don't like to discuss it.

Let's remove the balming sanction of law from this abomination, and reclaim our love and respect for one another.

As far as this conservative is concerned, all the issues that concern Conservative are importand and I am not willing to sacrifice all the morals issue so your candidate Rudy can get elected.

If a candidate cannot provide the correct position on the following, he is worthless and does not deserve the votes of conservatives:

1. Taxes 2. Spending or Smaller Government 3. War on Terror 4. Abortion 5. Gay Marriage 6. Global Warming Farce 7. 2nd Amendment 8. Illegal Aliens 9. Judges (connected to Abortion) Rudy fails miserably on 2, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, and 9. He passes on 1 and 3. No way, no How does he deserve a conservative's vote.

The children killed by our own hand far outstrips all of our deaths to war. What right to security have you if we together cannot protect the weakest and most innocent among us?

Another post reminded me - Global Warming may be a tie with socialized medicine as a socialist vehicle.
