CBS News ^ | January 17, 2008, 12:40 PM | Scott Conroy

COLUMBIA, S.C. -- There was an ice storm in South Carolina this morning, but it was even colder inside a Staples store where a Mitt Romney press conference suddenly went sour.

Romney was in the middle of answering a routine question when he said something that caused Associated Press reporter Glen Johnson to lose his temper.

“I don’t have lobbyists running my campaign,” Romney said. “I don’t have lobbyists that are tied to my … ”

“That’s not true, governor!” Johnson suddenly interjected. “That is not true. Ron Kaufman is a lobbyist.”

Kaufman is a well-known lobbyist, former adviser to President H.W. Bush and Romney campaign adviser who is often seen by the governor’s side while on the road.

Click on the video below to watch as the exchange between Johnson and Romney as it grew increasingly hostile.

Are they out to get Mitt or what? If the MSM keeps this up they’ll simply drive voters to him.

Maybe Mitt needs to learn the look of false righteous indignation and the finger-wag....

I remember a day when reporters jobs were to ask questions and report on the answers — but not debate with public officials over their answers.

Romney flip flops on the truth, like everything else.

yet again the media are having another go at Romney and not Mccain.

How surprising, NOT

More proof that the media have it in for anyone except Mccain, Huckerbee and barack hussein obama.

Mccain and Obama the darlings of the media and it’s sickening to see

There’s always been something incongruous about Kaufman with the positions he’s held. Palooka comes to mind...

The only politicain Romney gets along with is Ted Kennedy:

Ted Kennedy: I just suckered a Republican into signing a tyrannical bill forcing taxpayers to buy Planned Parenthood run health care and pay for $50 abortions. The sucker vetoed parts of the bill which I don't care about, but left the innocent baby killing in. I am a great evil democrat. (Evil sly grin)

Funny how the MSM and the dems continue to attack Romney and not the others.

“Are they out to get Mitt or what?”

Of course they are. He is the closest thing to a conservative that actually looks like they may have a chance of winning. Ann Coulter just endorsed him in her column yesterday, so Romney had better be prepared with a staunch counteroffensive against the LeftMedia onslaught.

Associated Press reporter Glen Johnson to lose his temper.

Since when are reporters supposed to MAKE the news? Shut up and scribble already.

Maybe Mitt should stop making outlandish lies and the press won’t go after him.

Seems pretty straight forward that he was lying, and he got called on it.

Spam, that's what this thread needed, was spam. The thread is about getting along with a reporter not a politician.

Since the MSM hates Romney like the devil hates holy water, perhaps there is something right about the guy. My problem with him is he hasn't talked like a conservative in days of yore, and he grew up in "moderate" family. The idea of a luke warm Republican Presidentmakes me want to throw up.

Since the MSM despises him, should I dig a little deeper?
