Thats not true, governor! Johnson suddenly interjected. That is not true. Ron Kaufman is a lobbyist. Kaufman is a well-known lobbyist, former adviser to President H.W. Bush and Romney campaign adviser who is often seen by the governors side while on the road.
Romney flip flops on the truth, like everything else. Watch the video; it's clear that Romney was not saying that he doesn't know Ron Kaufman, or that Ron Kaufman is not a lobbyist. He was saying that he had put a lot of his own money into the campaign, and did not have obligations - or grudges - to anyone in Washington. He was asserting that he was his own man - which everyone knows Romney can afford to be. Romney was not even slightly flustered by the reporter's charge. And at the end of the clip someone says to that reporter that it is not his job to argue with the candidates. Someone whom the reporter evidently respected.
