Interesting analysis. My one reservation is that if FDT doesn’t win SC or come close, the rest of his Southern strategy is likely to become moot. Therefore it would seem logical for him to take on McCain as the SC front-runner as well as Huckabee.

"Rumor is he is just trying to help his buddy Mc Cain." I think the key word is "rumor."

We will see in today's polls what kind of bounce Fred gets. Uh, no. Pollsters routinely say that it takes three or four days or an event to show up in the polls.

The above is the making up craps sources and links.

You have to ask yourself why Thomspon went after Romney in NH and Huckabee in SC, where McCain was leading in the polls.

Lots of “Bunk” and “Bull”, but not much explanation. Why would Thomspon go after Romney in NH, Huckabee in SC and not McCain? McCain was leading both states going into those debates.

problem. There are no more debates prior to South Carolina which is a shame as this is Fred’s main strong point.

Are you only going to repeat rumor, or do you have something of substance? Actually if you look up prior post you will find he's a huckster supporter and is making up the so called rumors.

Just like last nights debate basically said, Good-bye, Romney.
Salvation? You and I disagree the first time ever (that I can remember anyway). I really want Mitt to stay in until convention. If he can rank second in all states he will win.
To: teddyballgame
Thompson needs to knock off Romney as the ‘anti-McCain/Huckabee’ candidate. That is going OK, so now he needs to replace Huckabee as the social conservatives’ ‘anti-McCain’ choice.
As long as Huckabee holds social conservatives (OK, social activists), Thompson won’t get above 12%.

Why the hate? Can't you just call him Huck?Nothing wrong with calling a lying liberal what he is.

Thats why I called it a rumor. A couple of pundits speculating.
Plus an army of people supporting other candidates who are now posting this on various forums just as you are here -- trying to spread speculation as fact.
So the latest strategy to counter Fred is to repeat ad nauseum, "Too little, too late" and "he's in bed with McCain.". Sounds like some people are getting scared that Fred may be awakening the passions of conservatives.

Pollsters routinely say that it takes three or four days or an event to show up in the polls. Speaking of polls - did you see the results of GOPUSA's latest Grass Roots Survey. 2250 respondents :
Of the declared candidates, who is your current choice for the Republican presidential nomination?
Fred Thompson -- 32%
Mitt Romney -- 20%
Mike Huckabee -- 15%
Duncan Hunter -- 10%
Rudy Giuliani -- 8%
Ron Paul -- 7%
John McCain -- 5%
Alan Keyes -- 3%
I think we can safely predict this poll will not be mentioned in the MSM.

Fred is running for McCain VP. Absolutely untrue. Fred has stated clearly in the past that he's not interested in VP. He's repeatedly said that he's running for President, not out of personal ambition, but out of a desire to serve his country for the benefit of future generations.
To: commish
Agree with your analysis. Huckabee is Fred’s competition in SC. Had he gone into the debate attacking Huckabee AND McCain, he’d have looked desperate and like he was flailing. He focused his attack on his main rival, and was smart to do so.
