Exempt Paid Freepers from Fundraising?
Marktwain | 5 Jan 2008 | Marktwain

Can Freerepublic exempt freepers who have paid their share from the fundraising banners in the threads? Sure, I know that we have a proven formula here that works. I hate to mess with what has given us results.

But, I find the banners/whatever to be mildly annoying as well as amusing. Would it be legaly/practically to provide a bonus to paying freepers that they don't need to see the banners?

After years of posting as a parasite,(well I did make *a* donation) I finally did the right thing and started contributing monthly.

Just a thought, maybe those that contribute could be exempt from the fundraising.

That’d be a lot of work for the administrators. FR’s overhead is pretty low, I believe.

A better solution would be if Freepers contributed a little more and a little faster. Then the Freepathon would be over much quicker, to everyone’s satisfaction.

The only banner I can’t stomach is the picture of bill and the hildebeast (they look about college age). Other than that, I can deal with them just fine, thank you! :-)

Nope. It’s an incentive for you to either:

a) encourage everyone to commit to enough monthlies so we don’t have to have Freepathons

b) give more yourself.

Now quitcher bellyaching and contribute a bit more with a one-time donation. I’ll match you.

I liked the one of the tired looking woman holding the coffee mug. I got a laugh out of that one every time!

“That’d be a lot of work for the administrators. FR’s overhead is pretty low, I believe.”

Well, they *must* have a database of the freepers who donate monthly. And I have a hard time believing that they do not have a database of those who donate episodically.

There would be some initial software work, but I envision it as an automatic process after that.

Well, at times the Funding Request pictures and text are a mis-match with the posted post.

That is when I get ticked...but that's the way it happens...

It’s very simple.

Do you want to be exempt from the “ad’s” for the Freepathon on every thread?

OK here is what you do.

Check the Latest Post page.

Look at how much has been donated.

Look at how much the goal is.

Subtract the amount donated from the goal

At this time that would be $70,000 minus $12,264

That would be $57,736

Put that amount in a bag (small bills please) and send it to me and I will deliver it to the Free Republic Towers in downtown Fresno within 24 hours.

Problem solved...

I finally did the right thing and started contributing monthly.

This is so cool.

I don't think they can turn off the banners and stuff for just you alone, but the suggestion about turning off images would probably be helpful.

Are you on dialup?
