Interesting...FReepers Lobbied for Wanye DuMond's Release Too
Free Republic ^ | 1-4-08 | Bodhi1

So, members of Free Republic actually lobbied here for the release of Wayne DuMond, but are now holding that against Mike Huckabee?

How do you justify that?

I am no Huckabee supporter, as you can see from my article there. I'm new here and just had this thrown in my face on another site.

I was surprised to see this.

Just wondering if there are any members here now that were a part of that thread, or remember that thread, and if they can explain what they were thinking.

Hell, some FReepers even support Ron Paul.
I’d like them to explain that one.
It doesn’t mean that they represent the majority of FreeRepublic though.

Good point.

I’d still like to hear from some of those people in that thread though.

First of all, that is not lobbying in the legal sense, it is just posting an opinion.

Second, if they are wrong in having and posting that opinion, the worst that happens is they are embarrassed. If the Governor who actually recommends release is wrong, someone may (and did) die.

Third, the poster is not the governor, sworn to uphold the law. They are a citizen expressing an opinion.

You could always ping them, albeit, I doubt few, if any, are still around.

I wasn’t here for it, so don’t look at me.

I just read the whole thread. Perhaps you could point specifically to who was lobbying for his release?

You can't hid from the past on the internet.

I don't think all Freepers are holding it against him.

I was just lurking then but I remember feeling somewhat sympathetic to Dumond.

Hypocrisy? Hypocrisy on FR? What kind of lying/commie/pinko/socialist/mambie-pambie liberal are you?

Aha! A member since Mar 8, 2007. How does that establish your credentials to come on here and troll?

Only TRUE CONSERVATIVES post here!!!!!!!!

This post you dredge up after almost 8 years was obviously planted by some “huckster”. I’ll bet Bill/Hill were planning Huckabee’s rise a decade ago. This is ALL an Arkansas conspiracy.

Here are several other threads on the issue from years before Huck was running for President, and as you will see, people were on both sides of this and there were many Huck critics then.

FReepers lobbied? No, they gave their opinion. My guess is that the governor made his decisions without checking in on FreeRepublic.

I doubt that FReepers supported Huckabee’s other 1,032 pardons/clemencies.

You know, you are right. That whole thread, not one advocated his release. That is because the article was about his release and most of the FReepers there were celebrating his release.

My mistake.

I understand now that this was not a general consensus on the site. As I said, I was kind of blind sided by this on another site and wanted the story behind it.

Thanks for the links and for the info. I appreciate it.
