Bang Bang Kiss Kiss (candidates 2nd Amendment stands)
The American Spectator ^ | December 31, 2007 | Robert VerBruggen

When Americans nominate their presidential candidates next year, the Second Amendment won't be the first thing on their minds. The issue didn't even appear in a recent CNN poll that found that the economy, Iraq, health care, immigration, and terrorism are the nation's biggest concerns.

But in a country where 36 percent of Democrats and 48 percent of Republicans have firearms in their homes, the issue is still a locked and loaded one for candidates of both parties.

Republican presidential hopefuls, as expected, worked hard to win over the members of the National Rifle Association at the organization's convention in September. But even otherwise gun-shy Democrats are expressing Strange New Respect for gun owners.

Fred Good

Hunter Good

Huckabee Good

All the rest, including Romney, not good.

They try to posture, now that this gun is good, or, I hunt and am a sportsman.

Look at the records.

'2. Will he appoint judges who will strike down gun-control laws? This is especially important because the Supreme Court will rule on the constitutionality of D.C.'s handgun ban next summer. A little judicial-branch muscle in the aftermath of a pro-gun ruling could set the tone for the next several decades, at least.' ============================================================ Image and video hosting by TinyPic

As Massachusetts governor, Romney defended the state's "tough gun laws." He waited for his presidential campaign to join the NRA and discover that the Second Amendment protects an individual right. He claims the only gun law he would sign is an assault-weapon ban

Won't vote for ANYONE that would sign another gun ban.

Me neither. Nor anyone who proposes amnesty.

Just wonder when the NRA is going to make their endorsement! I think it is about time!! Would think they would do it before January 3rd to help boost the candidate of their choice. Anyone know what is holding the NRA up in making their endorsement?

Just wonder when the NRA is going to make their endorsement!

They already endorsed Romney with a B when he was Governor, why would the NRA rate him lower today?

" All the rest, including Romney, not good."

Don't look now, but, saying that about Mitt, and you will be called a Mormon basher ( they got their marching orders to do this ) as I have been accused of being a basher of Mormons by stating that Mitt is a liberal.

Fred is not bad. He however is not that good either. His record is mixed at best. I side with the GOA analysis. A summary of his votes & positions can be found at:
http://gunowners.org/pres08/thompson2.htm

I agree that Hunter and Huckabee are good with regard to 2A issues. Excellent some might say. For some reason, you fail to fail to mention Paul, who has the best 2A record by far. I suggest that you read all of the GOA summaries at:

You are correct. McCain is as much for the 2nd Amendment as he is for the 1st. Remember McCain Feingold. McCain is an embarassment to the party.
