MOST DEFINING POLITICAL MOMENT OF 2007 (your nominations posted here)

Posted on 12/24/2007 5:27:58 AM PST by Liz

No question: Hillary flubbing the debate question on licensing illegals was a pivotal moment. Hillary started sinking fast when she enthusiastically walked right into the quicksand---by stupidly endorsing licensing illegals---the cockamamie plan dreamed up by NY Gov Spitzer.

The illegals question posed by Tim Russert at the Philly debate did what no other question could have done——it destroyed Hill's credibility, sank her poll numbers, destroyed her front-runner status, and demolished her “inevitability” factor. Can’t ask for more than that.

Clinton wanted to suckup to illegals to avoid offending Hispanics and came out in favor of licensing illegals---an issue fully 80% of Americans from all segments of the political spectrum oppose. She later realized her general-election vulnerability, reversed course again and opposed them outright. She has taken 5-6 positions on the issue, to date, and her last word on whether she supports licensing was a one word answer: "No."

To complicate matters, Hillary has top-loaded her campaign with latinos. Besides co-chair LA Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, Hill's "Hispanic advisor" is Raul Humberto Yzaguirre, ex-director/founder of the radical, racist La Raza.

Gotta wonder what the quid pro quo is here: Is Hillary planning to turnover the SW to Mexico? Maybe ban guns and legalize machetes? Give free US drivers' licenses to all of Mexico? The possibilities for Hill's hyphenate-Hispandering are endless.

...it destroyed Hill's credibility

Hahaha! The author thinks Hillary had credibility. What a maroon.

I nominate Harry Reid declaring the Iraq war lost, followed-up by the congressional “piling on” of General Petraeus, just before he returned to Baghdad and kicked Al Qaeda’s collective arse.

GIULIANI'S DEFINING MOMENTS (SO SO MANY): The disastrous Hannity interview on Fox was a Rooty/Jooty debacle, so archly orchestrated, it was almost unwatchable.

Should have been promoted as an infomercial-----Hannity was a perfect shill to pitch a number to call in campaign contributions.

Rooty's campaign is in emergency mode b/c the polls apparently show Jooty is a drag on the campaign; on ABC's 20/20, this nitwit actually told an appalled America she planned to sit in on Cabinet meetings. Now Rooty and Jooty are stupidly laughing over the very crackbrained idea they themselves came up with.

Talk about voter manipulation----the Hannity interview was hyped as Rooty's Hillary-bashing---to inveigle viewers to watch. From the getgo, the entire exercise was intended to whitewash Rooty's biggest problem---his third wife---Jooty. Rooty dumped his wife and kids to be with Jooty who abandoned her only child to be with the married Mayor.

Jooty had been instructed to act like the demure worshipful Stepford wife. All she needed was a ruffled gingham frock to complete the masquerade. Jooty had dutifully memorized all her answers to questions which Sean read verbatim from a cheat sheet.

Hannity was well-briefed to ask the "right" questions and Rooty/Jooty responded like Pavlov's dogs. Sean was coached to get answers that were obviously focus-grouped to the nth degree.

Rooty's attempts to look "sincere" were laughable. Posturing, slitting his eyes to look serious---all of them laughing at the dumbness---the NRA phone thing AND the idiotic Cabinet interview w/ Bwabwa Walters. Sean should hang his head in shame for giving Rooty TV time----not b/c it was effective---but b/c it was a witless attempt to resurrect Jooty.

Viewers have never been so manipulated as they were in this interview. Sean should be ashamed for using his audience in that manner.

Hannity asked not one question about Jooty's puppy killing career---he looked the other way when Jooty touted herself as a "top national manager" at US Surgical (let's contact her co-workers about that, eh?).

The entire interview was promoted as Rooty's Hillary basher---when all that was intended was to resurrect Jooty from the 20/20 Cabinet disaster, puppy killing, Jooty breaking up his marriage, and "forgetting" she had a first husband.

My favorite poliltical event--while not seen by all, nor significant in presidential politics - was Rush's phony soldier dust up with dingy Harry, his fundraising campaign, and Reid's CYA.

Never have I seen such a brazen political stunt from the Dems and anyone who calls themselves democratics should be spurred to change party affiliation.

It was a great episode, and may it remain as a reminder of the type of slime that lives just below the skin of liberals.

A few nominations:

The "gay general"/YouTubers debates, where the media finally dropped all pretense and showed the eyes of the world that they were in the tank for She Who Must Not Be Named;

The Moveon.org "Betrayus" ad in the NYT, and the witch-hunt against GEN Petraeus by the Senate, led by She Who Must Not Be Named;

The announcement that Sen. Thompson would enter the GOP race;

The Philadelphia debate

My recommendation: The stumbling and bumbling DBM handling of Rush's "phony soldier" monologue, culminating with Rush's uncanny ability to make lemonade out of lemons.

It was a stroke of idiocy for Reid and congressional Democrats to insert themselves into a free speech issue when they had not as much as listened to Rush's comments in order to see in what context they were made.

It was a stroke of genius for Rush to put the infamous "Letter of Incompetence" up on Ebay for the benefit of the Marine Corps Law Enforcement Charity.

That incident smoked out so many ugly things like Democrats' contempt for free speech and Hillary's ties to Media Matters.

I think that has to be one of the greatest moments of 2007. Rush took dingy harry and the 40 rats behind the woodshed and gave them a good old fashioned whooping.

Also helped sink Congress's approval ratings to 11%.

The great grass-roots uprising against illegal alien amnesty.

First thing that came to mind for me as well. Hugely significant. On a less bi-partisan level, but same theme, and of lasting import to the republic: the Harriet Miers uprising.

...was Rush's phony soldier dust up with dingy Harry...

Agreed. But there is more profoundity(wow, I like that word) here. A single individual in the media took on the elected liberal establishment and came out on top. To clarify, it was a talk radio host who KO'ed the Majority leader of the Senate.

The new media has hit another milestone! Allow me to point out a few more: Dan's Bake Sale, The Repub revolution of '94, Drudge and the breaking of the Monica Lewinsky story, 9/11...
