Huckabee Was [not] Ready for Stem-Cell Question(Huck's hypocrisy; Thompson pounces)
Wash Wire/ Wall treet Journal ^ | 12/22/2007 | Laura Meckler

Posted on 12/22/2007 8:36:47 PM PST by Brices Crossroads

Mike Huckabee was prepared when a voter asked him today about embryonic stem-cell research. He pulled from his pocket a photo of a girl, given to him by a woman at a campaign event.

“This little girl was born from a frozen embryo, frozen for four years, two-cell embryo,” he said. She “became this precious little girl.” He said the girl’s mother told him, “When you think about embryos and stem cells just remember my daughter.” [Mike Huckabee] Huckabee

[snip]

Huckabee praised President Bush for blocking federal funding for research that destroys embryos, saying he rightfully stood up to pressure to cave. {snip}

He added that “now science has proved that he’s right,” noting that recent research suggests that other forms of stem-cell research may hold just as much promise.

In his swing through eastern Iowa this week, Huckabee has hit the “sanctity of life” issue forcefully. He has equated the rights of the unborn to the rights of all humans and said that because abortion is a moral issue, not a political issue, it’s not OK simply to overturn Roe vs. Wade. In that case, abortion will still be legal in states that choose to allow it.

“That’s the logic of the Civil War. Some states see slavery is right. Others can say it’s wrong. I don’t think that’s where we want to be as a country,” he said. “If abortion isn’t wrong then nothing is wrong.”

His staunch opposition to abortion — as well as his strict stand against same-sex marriage — have fueled his rise among evangelical Christians in Iowa...

5:10 p.m. UPDATE: Fred Thompson’s campaign noted Huckabee’s comments and emailed WashWire to note that in March 2007 Huckabee took a $35,000 honorarium from Novo Nordisk, a company involved in stem cell research.

Huckabee's sanctimonious hypocrisy is fairly dripping here.

Notice how quickly Thompson's campaign nailed Huckabee for this hypocrisy. Showing the photograph of the little girl who was born from a frozen embryo after having pocketed $35,000 from Novo Nordisk, the world's largest destroyer of unborn human embryos.

Good for Fred. His campaign has really hit its stride. This one is gonna leave a mark.

This is not going to persuade the 60% undecided group in Iowa to vote for Huckabee.

Thompson will exceed expectations, I do believe.

This one is gonna leave a mark.

It very well may!

I really think the main question about Huckabee is will the wheels come off before New Hampshire or after?

Ping! Fred needs to continue to hit Huckabee on this Novo Nordisk embryonic stem cell hypocrisy and to remind the Iowa caucus goers of RomneyCare’s $50 abortions.

Democratic Governor Endorses Mike Huckabee

Instead we have conservatives lining up behind Mike Huckabee because he agrees with them on two issues - gay marriage and abortion - neither of which the president can do much about. And all the while they ignore his liberal history as governor of Arkansas. If Huckabee is a real conservative, explain this: Since he's running in the Republican primaries for president, don't expect Mike Huckabee to be advertising the strong endorsement he just got from Ted Strickland, Ohio's Democratic governor.

It seems Mr. Strickland, who typically racked up a 95% rating from the liberal Americans for Democratic Action during his 16 years in Congress, has discovered a kindred spirit in Mr. Huckabee. He told the Cincinnati Enquirer last Sunday that Mr. Huckabee is a "combination of conservative views in some ways, but very, almost liberal views in other ways." Mr. Strickland concluded: "Of all the Republican candidates, Mr. Huckabee would be my personal choice."

NOW,,, THERE SHOULD BE NOT DOUBT IN YOUR MIND....HUCKABEE IS LOVED BY DEMOCRATS.

God save us if he is actually nominated by the Republican party, or should I say "former" Republican party ..if that actually occurs.

YOUR CHOICE                           This                         OR                                   This.

NEITHER IS A PRETTY PICTURE

Can you really imagine this bunch in the White House?

        HEEHAW, HEEHAW
Hey mom...what's for super? Pedro is back. He slipped over the border  yesterday, do you think we can get Maria to cook up some her fine tacos?

I would rather vote for a Democrat than that....more government involvement...amnesty pushing... foreign affairs ignorant......Bush bashing....high taxing....parole giving...credential lying.....preacher hick from Arkansas. That's about it (sure I missed something)

Karl Rove might be right when he said to get ready for a Democratic era in the White House.  A vote for Huckabee is a vote for a Democrat, no matter which party wins.

MINUTE MEN of America

NRA of America

We want to know.....what the hell are you waiting for?

Your endorsements could make the difference in the upcoming elections.  If you haven't noticed, you have the perfect candidate in the race.  The future of stopping illegal immigration and the individuals right to bear arms are at stake.  Failure to give your support to the right person could cost all freedom loving Americans dearly.  Your members want you to endorse a person that will stop illegal immigration and secure our rights to bear arms.  A true conservative is the only choice, no liberal republicans or democrats need apply.

Everyone needs to call NRA headquarters / Minute Men headquarters today and voice our opinions.  I have.

"When I am president, I will build a fence."

"My idea of gun control is a good, steady aim."

Will this latest issue/gaffe hurt The Huckster in Iowa or will the Evangelicals just ignore it and stand by their man?

Huck and Mitt are blood brothers. They both are saying anything to get elected. It is nice to see Huck get nailed on this. The man reminds me of another Governor from Arkansas and for me once was more than enough.

“Will this latest issue/gaffe hurt The Huckster in Iowa or will the Evangelicals just ignore it and stand by their man?”

I believe it will hurt Huckabee, because right to life was his one pristine conservative issue in a sea of liberal positions. The evangelicals left Fred over the phony abortion lobbying story from 17 years ago. Huckabee pocketed this cash from Novo Nordisk seven months ago. He has really pushed the issue hard and it is the hypocrisy that is going to turn them off.

I got an e-mail from the Minutemen. They cannot legally endorse anyone due to their tax status.

I remember a few months ago some people attacked Brownback because he had a mutual fund that held Nova Nordisk stock.

Last year Allen was attacked because he had some financial tie to a company that manufactured plan b pills.

The problem with Huckabee is that he has been so “in your face” on the issue and it is the only thing that connects him to the social cons.

But they can come out and individually endorse. The numbers would add up and people could come to their own conclusion of who they support.
