WASHINGTON, Dec 19 (Reuters) - A recent decline in U.S. news coverage from Iraq coincides with improved public opinion about the war just as the 2008 presidential campaign heads to an early showdown, a study released on Wednesday said.

The study by the Pew Research Center's Project for Excellence in Journalism said the volume of coverage from Iraq fell from 8 percent of all news stories in the first six months of 2007 to 5 percent between June and October due mainly to a decline in news accounts of daily attacks.

The falloff coincided with a 14 percentage point climb -- from 34 to 48 percent -- in the number of Americans who believe the U.S. military effort in Iraq is going either fairly or very well, according to Pew.

This is WITH the MSM blackout of the good news coming out of Iraq.

The trend is we will have more good news at the end of December.

The public opinion on this is on a strong upswing. This will KILL Pelosi and Reid and the surrendercrats.

You are absolutely correct. Journalistic treason is what I call it. That said, it must have killed al-Reuters to even run this article...

“Strong Majority Feel Iraq Going Poorly” is what they do with a 48%er going against them

Iraq is not a quagmire, or Congress is a quagmire. Our Congress needs to pull out of itself.

Why do I have a picture of Congress with its head stuffed up its keyster in my mind?

Although it’s too soon to be categorical I’d say this is strong evidence for the ability of alternative media to act as a counterweight to the ubiquitous MSM antiwar drumbeat of the past couple of years. That worked during Vietnam, but it didn’t work this time.

No, because more than 2% will be neutral or have no opinion.

The weasel wording would be: "Majority do not think Iraq war 'going well'"

Screwy obfuscated poll. Shows the drive-by media can’t be counted on tell the truth anymore.

The real poll is the dims caved on war funding. They wouldn’t have done this unless the real numbers are really bad. Not only that, near half the dims voted for the war this time around.

Like, according to icasualties.org, December is on track to be the lowest rate of US casualties per month since the war began.

What is amazing is that George W Bush has not wavered on this war, he has been consistent, even in the face of political opposition that would have caused just about every other politician in the country to fold. Talk about the right man in the right place at the right time.

Yes, there have been mistakes during the conduct of the war, but who will end up owning those mistakes? General Sanchez - who is also the poster boy for the anti-war rats. Talk about a losing effort.
