With separate entrances for Jews and Arabs, the truth is if the Arabs can't bear to see a Jew, all talk of peace is a sham. If Arabs can't break bread with Jews and talk to them, there can be no meeting of the minds. Treating other people decently is the key to civil relations. The Arabs have yet to master such elementary courtesy.

I don’t get it. I thought that as part of our embracing diversity and multiculturalism we were supposed to respect all aspects of other cultures and not be judgemental in our approach to them. Whether it’s racist or not, hating Jews is part of Arab and Muslim culture; it’s not for us to judge, but rather to embrace and celebrate the differences. Right?

Somehow the misconception has been created that ‘racism’ can be eliminated by laws, rules, counseling and the prohibition of certain words or behavior. Centuries ago, the English common law made no pretense of the ability to deal with mens rea or state of mind, concluding that no man can know what is in another man’s heart; the law sought, realistically, to deal only with the prohibition of certain conduct. Where did the idea come from, in western philosophy, that we can not only know what’s in a man’s heart, but that we can alter it? Mankind has always, and will always, have to contend with the ‘monsters of the id’. We can’t alter bias and prejudice, but can only make actions based on those conditions too costly for for an individual to indulge. I’m sorry, but not even The Shadow knows what evil lies in the heart’s of men.

I didn’t use to have real bad feelings for arabs. After 9-11 and their reaction or lack of empathy I do have a serious
problems with them.
And no govt. re-education program will change that.

One has to understand that despite overwhelming evidence, most Arabs and Muslims view themselves as superior to the West. Oh, Arabs know of the accomplishments of Western technology but in their minds, Muslims hark back to the glory days of the early caliphate, a period of about 250 when Muslim/Arab power was at its height. Muslims see themselves as possessors of the true religious faith and hence culturally superior. To abandon the idea of superiority is to abandon a foundation of their faith.

True. Until Islam is gone, it will be chaotic. Peace will come in the Middle East when I can look at the skyline of Saudi Arabia and every country over there and see crosses and steeples rather than minarets and mosques.
