With separate entrances for Jews and Arabs, the truth is if the Arabs can't bear to see a Jew, all talk of peace is a sham. If Arabs can't break bread with Jews and talk to them, there can be no meeting of the minds. Treating other people decently is the key to civil relations. The Arabs have yet to master such elementary courtesy.

I don’t get it. I thought that as part of our embracing diversity and multiculturalism we were supposed to respect all aspects of other cultures and not be judgemental in our approach to them. Whether it’s racist or not, hating Jews is part of Arab and Muslim culture; it’s not for us to judge, but rather to embrace and celebrate the differences. Right?

You hit on the meaning of liberal multiculturalism in a nutshell. Who are we to judge the Arabs for their racism, their Judeophobia, their fear of women and their contempt for the West? To liberals the fact they are backwards and full of fanaticism is exactly why they should be elevated to the same moral level as Westerners. Of course its morally obscene and an insult to the truth but multiculturalism denies the evident fact that yes - some cultures are morally superior to others.

Somehow the misconception has been created that ‘racism’ can be eliminated by laws, rules, counseling and the prohibition of certain words or behavior. Centuries ago, the English common law made no pretense of the ability to deal with mens rea or state of mind, concluding that no man can know what is in another man’s heart; the law sought, realistically, to deal only with the prohibition of certain conduct. Where did the idea come from, in western philosophy, that we can not only know what’s in a man’s heart, but that we can alter it? Mankind has always, and will always, have to contend with the ‘monsters of the id’. We can’t alter bias and prejudice, but can only make actions based on those conditions too costly for for an individual to indulge. Jews have lived as dhimmis in Arab lands for hundreds of years - over a millenium in fact - and for Jews to gain a position of power and strength is something that is foreign to the Arab mind. Its a reversal of the natural order of things. That is why Jews are hated - for remaining Jews as well as defying the divine edict on their presumed lowliness of place.
