Teenaged congressional pages performed oral sex in front of their colleagues for weeks before they were caught and expelled from the program, according to a new report in Roll Call newspaper.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., has pledged to reform the page program, which brings dozens of 15- and 16-year-old students to live and study in Washington, D.C., while working as aides in congressional offices.
"As a mother and a grandmother, nothing is more important to me than the safety and security of our House pages," Pelosi said in a statement.
The page program has been reportedly reformed at least once already in the past year, after former Rep. Mark Foley, R-Fla., was exposed for sending inappropriate and suggestive e-mails and instant messages to teenaged former pages.
Two Republican lawmakers resigned their seats on the page program's oversight board last week to protest what they said was a failure to inform them of misbehavior in the program which was leading to expulsions.
In addition to the two pages reportedly expelled for their oral sex performances, two other pages were reportedly expelled for shoplifting from stores at Washington, D.C.-area shopping malls. One was reportedly charged with a felony.
And boy are they tired.
Ya know, it’s not that they actually engaged in it but that they had spectators that really makes you wonder what the hell is wrong with people.
Oh shut up.
The Clinton legacy continues.
Sounds institutionalized. Like a perk. :)
Culture of Corruption!
Well if that don’t beat all, ah Bill Clintoon wishes he were there.
I am outraged. This thing never happened when I was a page. Outraged I tell you. How come I never got to have oral, er, I mean, I am outraged at the behavoir of today’s kids.
Wait I am confused, so is oral sex now sex.......and wrong?
It’s a flourishing industry.
Besides the obvious tragedy of the pages involved in the various scandals, it is also sad that no responsible parent will send one of their children to DC to be a Congressional page. An otherwise great opportunity rendered too risky for children.
"... and therefore, I am introducing important, new legislation designed to protect these precious children, via the use of safe words, such as Palomino.
lol
And probably have a bad taste in their mouths too.
Barney Frank requested a new page - his old one split!
You lost me there, I do not understand the allusion.
And remember, these are the future legislative best and brightest wannabe’s.
Given the stuff that Congressmen and Senator’s are being accused of these days, they should fit right in.
it is interesting that the employer of these pages isn’t named by the MSM
