Congressional leaders, who have disappointed frequently this year, have done it again. This time, the House leadership has failed to find a way to get a bipartisan law against hate crimes passed and signed into law. Racial, religious, sexual and other minorities have waited long enough. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has to do more than just express her support for the bill; she must find a way to make it the law.

Still lying about Matt Shepard I see, and I also think Pelosi is about reviving the bill next year right before the national elections - wish she would.

The NYT just needs to face it, they're liberal AND inept.

The gaggle of gays at the NYT has their panties in a twist over their inability to get the Dems to pass this law.
Apparently, they haven’t noticed that the Dems haven’t been able to pass ANY law this year. What a waste of trees the NYT is!

Extra rights for homosexuals and folks of color?
Great idea if you are a homosexual or a person of color.

Where are judges of integrity?

Hate crimes are like the Kyoto Agreement. The law would only be for prosecuting/harming one group of people and would not be for everyone.

The two laws/agreements are prejudicial in themselves, laws of convenience.

We need a canstitutional amendment against hate crimes or the term “thought police” will become the norm.

After reading the first paragraph, I thought this was a joke. Turns out I was right.

The House passed it 237-180, with significant Republican support, and the Senate passed a similar bill by voice vote, after a 60-39 cloture vote.

How is it that this 237 otherwise intelligent people can be duped in to voting for a bill that flagrantly violates everyone’s civil rights.

How can people that consider them selves “Civil Libertarians” not see that such a law creates a special class of protected minorities with special rights.

How can these legislators who swore an oath to protect and defend the Constituion not see that this law is abhorrent to the Equal Protection clause of the Fourteenth Amendment.

“Extra rights for homosexuals and folks of color?

It says a lot about the integrity of groups and politicians that push these special laws. They don’t care about anyone but themselves and they think they are deserving of special consideration.

Pelosi could use two recent cases: NYC subway attack... a group of young Black females beat a man... video was on YouTube.

Or... Baltimore ... a group of 14 and 15 year old Black junior high students beat the living crap out of a 26 year old White woman to the point of removing her through the back door of the bus to complete the job. (Adults on that bus offered no assistance --> accessories to the crime?) Woman may lose sight in her eye.

Equal treatment under the law unless you are a member of an officially recognized victim group or are a sexual deviate.
Then you are more than equal and get special treatment.

The Founding Fathers would be astounded and depressed to see what fools now get elected to political office.

Would the Colorado shooting rampage count as a “hate crime”?

All animals are equal. Some are more equal than others.

I want a hate crimes bill enacted. This way every time some Marxist statist wants to take down a Christmas display we can have them arrested for a hate crime against Christianity.

Then file a billion dollar lawsuit against the ACLU.

The way to put them out of business is to bankrupt them as Reagan did to the Soviets.

I knew it, I knew it. I just had to find it - it's in the senate version....
S. 1105
SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE.
This Act may be cited as the `Matthew Shepard Local Law Enforcement Hate Crimes Prevention Act of 2007'.

SEC. 2. FINDINGS. ~~~ snip ~~
(6) Such violence substantially affects interstate commerce in many ways, including the following: (blah, blah, BULLSH*T)

Once again the US Congress does and end run around the Constitution by abusing the Commerce Clause to pass Laws they have no legal - Constitutional - authority to do so.

The 'Roberts Court' has to nip this Commerce Clause abuse in the bud. The 'Rehnquist Court' started the ball rolling by over turning a few laws (Di-Fi is STILL fuming), this SCOTUS has to continue it's oversight of these nuts passing as legislators.

(take away Commerce Clause abuse and Congress could stay home for ten months of the year)

These ideas, amongst others, need to be destoyed as judicial doctrine:

Commerce Clause superceding the 10th amendment.
The “incorporation doctrine” that was read into the 14th amendment.

Just these two doctrines being overturned would have a big effect on our country.
