Venezuelan leader Hugo Chavez, loser in the recent Venezuelan national referendum which would grant him increasing dictatorial powers, has ended his brief benevolence and contrition (if it ever was there) it would seem. But he did so with a backdrop of Venezuela's top military, sending a strong, yet somewhat shaky, staged subliminal message to his opponents.

--Listen to the Spanish gutteral expletive "mierda" ("excrement") used to describe the results and also the victors of the vote.

--Note his abrupt end, and his rallying Cuban Communist cry : "Socialismo o Muerte, Venceremos" ("Socialism or Death, We Will Win")

I believe this is precisely the question that held up the announcement of the election results. When Chavez concluded he didn't have the military behind him, he reluctantly accepted the NO vote, trying to put the best face on it.
