Its five strands of diamonds covered her decolletage and made the Queen's jewels look quite modest as they attended the Queen's banquet for the Commonwealth Heads of Government in Kampala, Uganda, on Friday.

But Camilla didn't deliberately set out to overshadow her mother-in-law - the Queen gave her permission to borrow it from the royal collection.

Camilla's favourite couturier, Anna Valentine, designed her a simple duck-egg blue dress and matching stole to set off the necklace, estimated to be worth tens of millions of dollars.

The Duchess added the Queen Mother's Boucheron tiara, a set of diamond earrings and the Queen Elizabeth II Family Order, given to female members of the royal family.

Looking at this photo I’ve finally come to realize that Charles must be out of his cotton-picking mind.

Or as my high school sweetheart maintained:

"Love is blind,
deaf,
dumb,
and stupid"...

From what little I’ve read, she knew before the wedding that Charles still loved Camilla instead of her but she went thru with it anyway. Inasmuch as she probably wouldn’t have married *me* anyway, I don’t care all that much. She played up the “poor abused princess” role and got as much out of it as she could. If she hadn’t been attractive no one would have cared.

What I have read was that it was after she publicly said YES, and prior to the wedding she began to discover what she was being selected to do and perform. There was reason why she was selected to be the mother of the future king, something that Camilla never could do and be. There is no way at Diana's young age she could have known the full extent.

Sorry I lost what little respect I ever had for this bunch over the means, methods and manners they alll treated Diana. That is not to say I respect how she responded more but I can sure understand why she reacted like she did given what these I AM's did to Diana, she was less than human to them.

Hillary would wear a crown like that if she thought she could get away with it.

Give her 5 years in office...

Charles has the pick of the stables and chooses an old bob-tailed nag. I can’t imagine saddling her up and going for a ride. Those rumors about Charles regarding women for procreation and boys for fun must have some substance.

That is a nice pic of her and Charles. She should insist that the people who made her up there should do it all of the time.

Well, whatever. No question that Charles is a born fool.

Character counts, as well as looks. I wouldn’t want to touch EITHER of them with a ten foot pole.

Actually the title of this should be “Queen’s necklace
out shines Duchess of Cornwall.”

If the queen had been wearing it, they both would have looked good.

I find loathesome the put-downs based on the appearance of human aging and general physical attractiveness. God created us as we are although we individually DO have considerable control over whether we maximize or minimize our attractiveness to others. But that’s all external. What’s on the inside is far more important.

Character is of highest value and one manifestation of virtue is modesty. If she had worn a high-neck dress in royal blue, jade green or crimson those jewels would have been stunning. Instead they merely call attention to the plunging neckline and thereabouts, cheapening both the person and the jewels.

Proverbs 31 describes the Virtuous Woman well.

I think most of the people here are missing the point...think of how awful and crazy Diana must have been for Charlie to give her up for Camilla.

This woman was attractive when she was younger: She is now wearing “the face she’s earned.”

speaks well of her character

She was married to another when she started her liaison with Charles - accepted the 'fact' that he was, as heir apparent, to marry a virgin and produce "an heir and a spare" - (using Dianna as little more that a brood mare) - and continued to carry on with Charles regardless, Charles upbringing leading him to believe it was his royal right to have a mistress...and then, finally, both Charles and Camilla get divorces and marry -

Where in all this does one extrapolate good character?
