ATLANTA, Georgia (AP) -- More than 1 million cases of chlamydia were reported in the United States last year -- the most ever reported for a sexually transmitted disease, federal health officials said Tuesday.
"A new U.S. record," said Dr. John M. Douglas Jr. of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
More bad news: Gonorrhea rates are jumping again after hitting a record low, and an increasing number of cases are caused by a "superbug" version resistant to common antibiotics, federal officials said Tuesday.
Syphilis is rising, too. The rate of congenital syphilis -- which can deform or kill babies -- rose for the first time in 15 years.

May I just say I am not one of the million.

STDs Running Rampant In Retirement Community
Doctor Blames Viagra, Lack Of Sex EducationPOSTED: 12:26 am EDT May 27, 2006
Doctors said sexually transmitted diseases among senior citizens are running rampant at a popular Central Florida retirement community, according to a Local 6 News report.A gynecologist at The Villages community near Orlando, Fla., said she treats more cases of herpes and the human papilloma virus in the retirement community than she did in the city of Miami.
"Yeah, they are very shocked (to hear the diagnosis)," gynecologist Dr. Colleen McQuade said. "I had a patient in her 80s."
That story provoked scary mental images.
.."sure hope the Socialist in Maine are watching the health of the 11 year olds their handing out pills to because their going to "do it anyway"...">
Say it isn’t so!
There is a correlation between behavior and things like AIDS, hepatitis, chlamydia, syphilis, gonorrhea....?
Consequences of the public schools teaching kids to put condoms on cucmbers, to go ahead and be promiscuous, but don’t tell your parents.
Nope (no surprise)...the pornification of America’s youth continues.
Public schools can’t/won’t teach morals...cuz that’s all relative and requires judgement...and there are too many absentee parents, so, what others reap they sow...
“A new U.S. record!”
Libs must be SO proud.
Clearly the answer is more condoms, and less self-control!
“A gynecologist at The Villages community near Orlando, Fla......”
Sorta gives a whole new meaning to “America’s friendliest hometown,” doesn’t it?
This story is kinda ironic considering the current hysteria over germs (sanitizing hand washes, bottled water, etc.).
I have Hep C which I got from a blood transfusion as a young teenager in a car accident. Many people got Hep C from blood transfusions. Hep B is the one that is passed more frequently by sex from what my doctors have told me. I've never had AIDS,chlamydia, syphilis, gonorrhea nor do I intend to get them.
I think that morals have gone down with MTV & the fact sex pushed so much on young children. I see young girls in outfits as young as grade school that are far too sexy for a little girl to wear.
This article is nothing but claptrap!
