Grassley has a reason for doing this.
I thought this too but she is questionable. I think Jay Nixon should look into it.
If you google earth and go to I-270 & highway 30, then go just a bit to the southeast corner, you can see the estate made up of at least 3 houses. From the street you can only see a little bit. A pond, gazebo, the fence..etc Very expensive.
The Post Dispatch did an article on her about 3 years ago. After reading that, I concluded she should have investigated then.
Not only that she isn’t even Biblical
bump for later reading
I think it is possible that she has become persuaded that one is entitled to this lifestyle. She has been tempted by the lust of the flesh, lust of the eyes and the pride of life.
I’d have more respect for her if she paid her workers good wages.
1 John 2:16
For all that is in the worldthe lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of lifeis not of the Father but is of the world.
Bitter?
Joyce Meyer’s needs to go back and read her Bible. Specifically, 1 Tim 3 and Titus 1.
The church leader must be the husband of one wife.
LOL!! 2 of those I would have definitely guessed would show up on the list. These health-and-wealth folks conveniently forget that Jesus gave up his heavenly kingdom and finery to walk among men — he didn’t have his disciples carrying him around on a litter like royalty. He walked like every other normal person. H&W is a scam.
I remember reading parts of that series in the Post. We get the paper in our office and I couldn’t help myself. She has always rubbed me the wrong way.
“But if I was in the ministrys shoes I would consider using the issue of the separation of church and state against the government and tell them to stick their requests where the sun dont shine lawyer up and see if this outlasts the next elections.”
The counter-argument is that by applying for tax exempt status, the mission has already breached the so-called separation of church and state. In other words, it is the mission that wants privileges from the government, not the other way around. (BTW, I disagree with the philosophy that everything is taxable unless it has an exemption but that is the reality today.) In order to argue and prevail on a true separation of church and state, the mission would have to disavow tax exemption. That is not likely to happen.
I’m sure they do a lot of good — but it galls me that someone who drives around in a Rolls Royce will take money from an old person’s SS check to pay for their own gas. (So to speak)
Think Jim and Tammy Faye....
I read Graybeard58’s post to you with interest. Went to your
about me page and after I quit laughing I had to tell you how much I enjoyed reading about all of your accomplishments. Would be interesting to know you. I share your opinion of Ms Meyers, at least as much as I understand it from someone’s post to you!
..what I've heard is Biblical enhancement/encouragment talks...
I have a friend, young Christian growing in faith, who loves Joyce and listens to her all the time.....but she is becoming more discerning.
Our church would not have a Joyce Meyers teaching/preaching to a mixed congregation...
..STILL, the facts are not in, and some folks here love to spout off regardless of the lack of facts.
I do not know enough about Creflo Dollar, but the rest of these ministries are charismatic, from the “name it and claim it” school. Most of the financial and sexual scandals in evangelical ranks have come from charismatics, such as Jim Bakker and Jimmy Swaggart. However, I have no reason to believe other charismatic ministries, such as those of Joel Osteen or John Hagee. You also seldom hear of non-charismatic, evangelical ministries of people like John MacArthur, Chuck Swindoll, R.C. Sproul, or Adrian Rogers being subject to criticism for financial abuses or spending of donations on luxury items.
I like Joel Osteen.
“a low cabinet or similar piece of furniture, often highly ornamental, containing drawers or shelves”
This is another definition for commode. I suspect $23,000 being spent for a piece of furniture rather than a ‘procelaine throne’
Cheers.
Where was the Senator when that chinese dude Hsu needed to be PROBED?!!....UNDER THE BED HIDING? Spineless weasles!! Ughhhh!
I think the facts are sitting in her driveway.
I’m a Christian and I’ve always had a real problem with those who are in the “ministry” having extreme wealth.
