Although I know very little about aviation, I feel confident that the A380 will be considered a success in the end and although I’ aware there are some people here who don’t care much for the French, I think it’s safe to say that France evidently has a lot of competent engineers.
Here’s my question: How long does it take to get through customs if you were in the last row of the A380?
It's going to take more than fancy new planes to put the "excitement back into air travel" for me. It's not the flights that are the problem, it's the nightmare that awaits at the airports.
I hope that in future they will resis the temptation to cram in an extra rowin economy class. I flew an A330 two weeks ago, for the first time in several years, and USAIR had done just that. As to the wider aisles, they seem no wider than those of most jets back in the ‘60s when I first flew.
I checked the Economy seating out on SeatGuru.com and I’m not terribly impressed. The seats are wider (19”) but it has about the same cramped leg room as the 737/747s.
I think A380 will be a success in the long term, the exponential growth of Air travel and along with a increasingly sophisticated passenger requirement will drive the demand.
congratulations to Airbus. Letâs hope the 787 flys next quarter.
Sadly, I feel that islam will rise to the challenge of taking out the world's lagrest flying target.
Nevertheless, this is very much a white elephant. The fact that the international carriers preferred the 777, 767, and even their own A340 over the jumbo 747 should have told Airbus something about the market appetite for Ginormous aircraft.
The A320 is Airbus's signature model, and one that I actually don't mind flying. I'll try the A380 when it is delivered to Emirates, but know that it will be a pain in the posterior waiting to board it at JFK.
I read that pilots would not be able to overide the controls beyond hard-coded parameters in extreme scenarios.
I’m less concerned about how much bigger than a 727 a plane is than how many inches of room there is around my seat for me.
You can count me as one freeper who actually likes France and spent a lot of time there and their former Americas colony Haiti.
Nearly all of Europe is leftist by our standards but some have more appreciation for their native culture. I like that.
