Four-year-old suspended for hugging teacher's aid
WBIR ^

Posted on 10/27/2007 8:21:34 PM PDT by ddtorquee

Bellmead, TX - Damarcus Blackwell's four-year-old son was lining-up to get on the bus after school last month, when he was accused of rubbing his face in the chest of a female employee.

The principal of La Vega Primary School sent a letter to the Blackwells that said the pre-kindergartener demonstrated "inappropriate physical behavior interpreted as sexual contact and/or sexual harassment."

Blackwell says it's ridiculous that the aide would misread a hug from a four-year-old.

Blackwell wrote to administrators demanding that the whole incident be expunged from his son?s academic file because his son is too young to know what it means to act sexually.

David Davis, the executive director of the Advocacy Center in Waco tends to agree with Blackwell. He says assuming the boy has not had sexual encounters, or been inappropriately exposed to pornography, most four-year-olds are sexually innocent.

Blackwell got a response from the La Vega administration. The sexual references on the discipline referral were removed. But the thing that makes Blackwell most upset is they told him "your request for an apology by the aide and removal of all paperwork regarding this incident is denied." Now the young student's file will refer to the incident as "inappropriate physical contact."

And Blackwell says he will continue to fight the district.

I’d say she is a future sex offender..Record her name...

Bingo. The 4 year old child is too young to conceptualize a sexual meaning in hugging his teacher. However, the fact that the "adult" teacher admits to perceiving and feeling a sexual aspect to a hug from her 4 year student is a huge red flag. It is not the hug that is the problem - it is the teacher's insistence on sexualizing it that is the problem.

The boy's parents should retain counsel and threaten to sue the school and the teacher if she does not undergo a thorough background investigation and psychiatric evaluation as a possible latent sex-offender risk.

"How tall is this kid?"

Or...how tall is the teacher?

I volunteer with kids and there’s a few that will give me a hug. It always makes me a bit uneasy - but I know what they are going through and give them a hug back. (One of those “sideways buddy-type” hugs.) Plus there’s always another adult around so I think its fairly safe to be able to respond with a quick yet supportive and comforting hug. And if not - well tough!

Teacher is one sick puppy for even reporting this problem.

Really. It tells me SHE is the one with the problem if she got something sexual out of it. SHE is the sex offender.

Used the email address posted above to explain to the Principal that there is no way a 4 yr old can reach a teachers breast. Unless the adult in this crazy story is leaning down.
Fools.

It is time parents start boycotting these depraved indoctrination centers. Let little children stay home with their mothers as they used to when the world was not insane.

My Gosh I can not believe that your are afraid to give acknowledgment of one person to another-
SCARED is what you are and that is truly sad.
Rush has talked about this, he has said, think back year’s ago and how you felt free to talk to one another about stuff, and then think about today and how you hesitate to say something and think I shouldn’t.
That is what is wrong with our country now.

Just crazy. I have a four year old pre-schooler and she LOVES to go to school every day. I would hate to tell her that she has been kicked out/suspended for something like this. She would absolutely be crused. Kids are pretty much the same at that age and I am confident this child is upset he cannot go to school now. Shame on the school for allowing this to happen.

Just wondering if anyone has sent the link to the article to Rush, Shawn or any of the other talk show hosts?

Blackwells that said the pre-kindergartener demonstrated "inappropriate physical behavior interpreted as sexual contact and/or sexual harassment."

Anyone who would interpret a hug from a 4-year old as "sexual contact and/or sexual harassment" has some serious psychological problems.

The boy’s treatment was both justified and expected in the reality of the commie public school system. Why do people complain about these things? Focus on school choice and vouchers and get our kids OUT of these facilities.

Agree with you the child is 4 yrs old and the parent should be home. But they are not home obviously so they put the child into pre-kindergarten run by a bunch of nuts.

Too bad the teacher isn’t 5’9”. The boy’s caress would have landed no higher than her navel.

When I was student teaching in a first grade class I had a disruptive little boy - sharpens a pencil and jabs other kids with the point on the way back to his seat. Goes to the restroom and on the way sets off the fire alarm, stuffs paper towels into the toilet and the sinks.
He came to me and said he had to go to the bathroom. In a gesture was at once protective as well as controlling, I put my arm around him and brought him close to my side. “Here’s what you do. You walk, don’t run, down the hall - don’t touch anything. Use the rest room, wash your hands, put the towels in the trash and come right back.” He did. Couldn’t do that today. Sad.
