A Minnesota college student was suspended and ordered to undergo "mental health evaluation" for his response to campuswide e-mails from school officials concerning the Virginia Tech massacre.
The college, Hamline University, a private, liberal-arts institution affiliated with the Methodist Church, has a policy on "Freedom of Expression and Inquiry" that guarantees that Hamline students will be "free to examine and discuss all questions of interest to them and to express opinions publicly or privately."
With such a strong guarantee on students' "freedom from censorship and control" by the university, student Troy Scheffler's e-mail must have been horrifically bad to warrant such a crackdown. Right?
Wrong. What Scheffler did was make a gun-rights case for concealed-carry permits on campus to help ward off potential Cho Seung-Huis before they strike Hamline.

All our founding fathers and writers of the Constitution were “crazy”? Who would have guessed?
People seem to have forgotten that the shooter killed two people and was not apprhended because the police already had a “prime” suspect detained. He was the boyfriend of the slain girl and he “fit the profile” because (A) he knew the victim, and (B) he owned a gun.
If you don’t support Second Amendment Rights you are crazy!!
I guess there’s a lesson here: When a university tells students to exercise their free speech rights, be careful what you say.
I’m old enough to remember when not believing in the 2nd amendment would classify you as “crazy’. How times have changed.
The Methodist Church was on the gun ban wagon 50 years ago. Many of their efforts have not been overt, but they’ve been supporting the hoplophobes big time.
Needs to sue them.
I dated a stupid liberal (Pardon my French) chienne from that travesty of a college known as “Hamline”. The girl was the dumbest, most patronizing liberal (Again, pardon my French) salope in the world.
Get this, this (Again, pardon my excessive usage of French profanity) salope was such a stupid liberal airhead that she went on a little “I’m better than you kick” by publicly declaring herself to be a “semi-vegetarian” because she cared for the animals. If the woman really cared for the animals, she wouldn’t be a “semi vegetarian”, she would be just a regular vegetarian, like everybody else that cares for animal rights. Shrimp and chickens are animals too.
God I (Francias) basies hate that chienne and I wish she was mort! (Continuing with the French theme).
Sounds entirely reasonable to me. Most of the time that is exactly what happens - it’s somebody close to the victim, not some random loon on a killing spree. I don’t blame the police for this.
What was inexcusable is forcibly rendering everybody else on campus defenseless. There’s pretty much never a cop around when the s**t hits the fan.
Isn't there a more liberal, common sense need not apply school in the PacNorwest? The one that both Lewinsky and the pancake girl went to?
Hamline probably ranks #2, but the stupidity taught there will do just as much damage.
No mention of the efforts by Elites who are mandating psych elvals for children. Statists are entrenched within both parties.

While you were in delicto flagrante with her later that evening, announce in your loudest voice at the point of no return, “I’m a Conservative !” and watch her squirm in horror.
