bugger that! how about fighting workplace discrimination against HUSBANDS of pregnant women. we've now had *6* women take of 6 months to a year of PAID time off because they had children, so they could be there to care for the children in the first few months.
now, when my wife gave birth, was i given 6 months to a year of paid time off? NO! i got offered up to 12 weeks off, and would only be paid for whatever vacation time i had accrued.

Making these small businesses provide this kind of leave would hurt the economy, imho. Currently, it is only businesses with 50 or more employees who are obligated under the current Family and Medical Leave Act. The Reuters story doesn't make this clear. Smaller businesses would be affected adversely. Small businesses can't afford this bs.
