Justice: Of course, it's right to recognize the wrong that the former Ottoman Empire did to the millions of Armenians it slaughtered and deported from 1915 and 1922. That said, does Congress have to recognize it now?
The answer is no. The country that was formed following the Ottoman Empire's collapse in 1922, Turkey, is today a stable, democratic and secular country — and an ally of the U.S. and Europe. Believe it or not, after ours its army is the second-largest in the NATO alliance — bigger than Britain's, France's or Germany's.
More importantly, it straddles a swath of what may be the most strategically important piece of land in the world.
Turkey is situated in both Europe and Asia Minor, guards the oil- rich and strategically vital Black Sea, dominates the back end of the Mediterranean, and shares borders and geography with some of the most troubled spots in the world. These include Iraq, Syria, Iran, the former Soviet Union and parts of Eastern Europe.
How puzzling, then, that the Democrat-led House Foreign Affairs Committee would choose this time to push through a resolution recognizing as genocide the murder of an estimated 1.5 million Armenians at the end of the first World War. We hope the rest of Congress — House and Senate alike — pass on the chance to vote on it.

IIRC, that was the target of Flight 93.
A curious thing....I’m wondering if anyone ever did a analysis of what would have happened if the plane had hit the capital...say earlier than the others. How many senators and congressmen were there at that time in the morning, and what might have happened. It might have been a greater drain on public view of America....had 60 senators and 200 congressmen been taken out of action. It would have been weeks before they could sat a majority of senators and representatives down...at some alternate location...and the Patriot Act might have been ten times more stringent than what we have today. Its a interesting “what if” scenario.
There is still a debate on United 93’s target but this is part of what I found:

This scenario was explored in Tom Clancy’s “Debt of Honor” and “Executive Orders.” Link below is about a debate on this issue in Congress:

This is nothing but Islamofascist’s propaganda.
We have got to stop calling Democrat policy toward Islamofascism "incompetence". Incompetence implies their policy does not yield the result they were seeking.
Neither Carter or Clinton was "asleep at the wheel" in combating terrorism. They both had a foreign policy that sought to appease and embrace radical Islamic elements. The Dems want radical Islam to be more influential in the region and the West to be less so. Part of the plan is to weaken our alliances with more moderate Muslim governments like Turkey. Obama threatening to attack Pakistan is out of the same playbook.
If we elect Hillary we will get more of the same.
Turkey is attacked now by Democrats BECAUSE it is an ally and has helped the US with Iraq. The two sides in this war face each other just as much in Washington as in Iraq.
I think you got part of that wrong.
Turkey did NOT help us in our invasion of Iraq.
Haven’t we been using them for a stageing base?
If Congress cared at all about condemning genocide they would’ve done this 90 years ago when it actually happened. The fact that they’re bringing this up now says they’re looking to turn an ally against us in the hope of alienating the US in the war on terror. What’s doubly suspicious is that this is happening after all the Dems’ cut and run bills failed; the Rats are moving to plan B: ticking off our allies.
Turkey is not only of value in the WOT, but also against Russia. During the Cold War we had missiles based in Turkey pointed at the USSR as a defense after the Cuban missile crisis. And with Putin in office (with no end of term in sight, it seems), the Cold War won’t be officially over for quite a while.
Turkey has been giving aid right along after the initial invasion, or rather, the Turkish army has, not with troops, but with provision of space, intelligence, etc. The Army is not quite the same thing as the Government. The only reason the Army has not removed this government is the desire to join Europe. It would better for everyone concerned if Europe would finally tell Turkey NO. Then the Army would do what the Army is constitutionally directed to do, protect The Turkish Republican state.
