Quakers Target of Corruption Probe
Voice of the New Media ^ | 10/08/2007 | Jeff Gannon

Posted on 10/08/2007 8:37:55 AM PDT by ConservativeMajority

One of the Hard Left's most prominent subversive groups is the target of a corruption investigation by the Pennsylvania State Attorney General. The Philadelphia Inquirer reports that a whistleblower alleged the American Friends Service Committee (AFSC), commonly referred to as the Quakers, diverted funds bequethed to it for medical scholarships to other activities, most likely pro-illegal alien assistance and war resistance.

The AFSC is at the center of the Hard Left's network of groups many consider anti-American, including United for Peace and Justice and MoveOn.org. Over the years, the Quakers have been the darling of the Hollywood Left and intellectual elites, like Susan Sarandon and Noam Chomsky.

Court filings indicate more trouble on the horizon for the AFSC than the current controversy. In 2006, a judgement was entered against the AFSC for failing to file and pay wage taxes for its employees to the City of Philadelphia. Other information contained in court documents suggest failure to comply with employment requirements that pertain to immigration issues, homeland security regulations and aspects of the Patriot Act.

Why attack the messenger? Read the article cited - The Philadelphia Inquirer - for the details.

The underlying question is why an organization with lots of money do such a thing?

“the American Friends Service Committee (AFSC), commonly referred to as the Quakers”

That is very misleading.

The AFSC people are an extremist group that claim to Quakers, but they are a fringe group.
Most Quakers have nothing to do with these types..

How odd?

I grew up in suburban Philadelphia and had many friends who's families were Quakers. Most of them were doctors, lawyers, bankers, etc... In short, very affluent people who tended to keep their views to themselves, lead lives humbly and lived in large quiet homes which were never austentatious. They were quite charitable as well.

Must be the new generation of Quakers. The spoiled brats of Quakers. Penn Charter was the finest private school around.

Thank you for your post. I’ve moved to Wisconsin and have been away from the area for a while. None of this article made sense to me.

Another victim of the Left's "Long March" up through the institutions of society.

Except the article doesn't say anything about the diverted funds being used for "most likely pro-illegal alien assistance and war resistance." That's just Gannon making stuff up.

Gannon cited other court documents, indicating that the Philadelphia Inquirer is only telling part of the story. Note the reference to the “whistleblower”, someone who is probably telling investigators much more than the single instance before the court.

And pacifists exist only because others have died to protect them. When they engage in activities that damage the country they cross the line and should be hammered hard. Especially for any aid to illegal aliens.
