Good even-handed article, for the most part.

It’s not that much of a gamble. Fred stands head and shoulders above Rudy McRomney in more ways than one.

Fed’s wife is the anti-Hillary. I’d vote Fred just to get Jeri into the White House. She’s smarter than Fred

The MSM seems to want Guiliani real bad. Guiliani can spend a bazillion dollars and never get past about 30% popularity among Republicans. I suppose folks at the NYT can see that as well as I can. I think a Guiliani nomination would be Hillary's best chance to win.

Thompson seems to impress people when he talks of issues. He also speaks simply. He also sounds like he believes what he says. I think if all the focus of a national campaign moves toward Thompson, he will leave Hillary in every poll, even the one that counts, like she is nailed to the ground.

It sounds to me like the MSM can see that as well. Thus the drum beat of any Thompson faux pas, no matter how trivial. In a long campaign, there will be a mistake or two made while speechifying.

That that article was even-handed? It could have been written by Hillary Clinton.

The MSM is getting a LOT of help with that drum beat of ridiculous trivia right here at FR.

Does every article about Fred have to include the word “folksy”? :)

LOL, they can’t resist.

My best friend and I have had a running joke for years. We have anecdotally determined it is impossible to have a conversation about the heat in Arizona without somebody having to use the term “dry heat” in response. It works EVERY time!

I know what you mean. Here it’s “if you don’t like the weather, wait a minute”, and you can expect to hear that about a hundred times a year. We New Englanders are obsessed by the weather. Actually, now that I think of it, we New Englanders are pretty much obsessed with everything.

I believe that there is real hope that Fred may stand on Reagan’s broad shoulders. If he fulfills his principles, he may prove to be the most important statesman of the century.

It is refreshing to hear Fred Thomson speak on issues even if he isn't well informed and he admits to the fact. I can respect a candidate that speaks from personal knowledge instead of spouting talking points prepared by his handlers and not understand a word he's saying. That is why Fred Thompson sounds like he believes what he says, because he does.

Guiliani’s Meet the Mayor radio show has finally hit the internet.

Apparently Guiliani’s five minute tirade agains a caller who had a ferret as a pet is a kooky klassic that can been googled for our listening pleasure.

Anytime I talk to someone in the SW and explain I couldn’t take that heat they always bring in the “dry heat” thing.

My response: So is a pizza oven!

“Conservatives gamble, take Fred Thompson: He shares enough values and is electable, they say”

Between that and the likability factor, he’s close to a lock on the nomination.
