Thompson seems to impress people when he talks of issues. He also speaks simply. He also sounds like he believes what he says.

It is refreshing to hear Fred Thomson speak on issues even if he isn't well informed and he admits to the fact. I can respect a candidate that speaks from personal knowledge instead of spouting talking points prepared by his handlers and not understand a word he's saying. That is why Fred Thompson sounds like he believes what he says, because he does.

Exactly, such as referring to the present-day Soviet Union, or a Democrat majority that wasn't, or being entirely ignorant of issues in the State in which he campaigns, that is all so endearing. What is more, FDT isn't too proud to solicit applause when his stemwinder stump speech has reached its ultimate crescendo unbeknownst to his somnolent audience.

Such talent and appeal is sure to sweep the GOP to victory in 2008.
