Taxation Without Representation Tags In support of the district's quest for full representation in the U.S. Congress, the DMV encourages DC residents to display the Taxation Without Representation license plates. In fact, all newly issued license plates bear this message, unless you request otherwise (see below).
If you'd like to exchange your old license plates for the new Taxation Without Representation tags, it will cost you a lot less than organizational plates―there is only a one-time, $10 exchange fee. You can swap out your old tags for these tags at the 301 C St., NW DMV service location.
Bring the following documents to the DMV to exchange your current license plates for the Taxation Without Representation tags: your vehicle registration, valid ID as the registered owner of the vehicle, and your existing license plates.
If you're registering your car for the first time and do not want the Taxation Without Representation license plates, be sure to tell the DMV clerk handling your transaction. You will instead receive the "www.dc.gov" Web site plates.
I need a bumper sticker that clearly states DC is Not a STATE!
Revoke home rule. Let Congress run the show as it should. See how Washingtonians like 435 representatives.
Given the taxpaying records of Marion Berry and Eleanor Holmes Norton’s husband, the plates should read “Representation without taxation.” And truth be told, the District gets a million times more money from federal taxpayers that its residents pay in.
Why do you hate Maryland so much?
The People’s Republic of Maryland is already too left wing - adding D.C. to it would be intolerable for those of us unfortunate enough to live here.
The federal government has to reside somewhere. That was the original purpose of the District. A territory that was home of the Federal Government, but not part of any state. This would prevent the state from getting special consideration (funding and more) simply because it was the seat of the Fed. If they turn it over to Maryland, then you can bet Maryland will start to get extra consideration being the home of the Fed.
Thank you. That explains it all to me. I appreciate it.
DC would also HATE that Baltimore and Frederick would have just as much say in state matters as they would.
If they don’t like it, let ‘em move to a state. But I have news for them: taxation WITH representation ain’t all that hot either. :-)
We were neighbors, except I was probably living on Bolling A.F.B. a long time before you were at 8th & I.
I'm an old geezer and spent '63-'67 there.
This aint news. Living in the DC area for 2.5 years, I’ve only ever seen plates like this.
Plus, under the covers, this is not about representation or not. Its solely about getting more ‘Rats into congress, and eventually, a couple more into the senate.
License Plates -”Taxation without Representation” I think they should offer them in Illinois, too. -)
However, the solution isn't to add representation; It's to remove all federal taxation. Making that town a Hong Kong on the Potomac would be the best thing that ever happened to it.
Hey DC, if you’re not happy with the present situation please secede and take the congress with you!
DC is a third world country supported by hand-outs, staffed by incompetents, populated by disarmed lefty twits and welfare leeches.
Maryland is not much better and Northern Virginia is well on the way to the same stupidity.
