Saturday Antiwar Protests Fizzle [All we are saying, is give soap a chance]
Human Events ^ | September 16, 2007 | Jack Langer

Posted on 09/16/2007 10:37:08 AM PDT by Lafayette99

September 15, the day of International ANSWER’s antiwar protest/“die-in” in the capital, started out calmly enough. But it didn’t end that way.

It began with a pro-troops rally sponsored by the Gathering of Eagles. This was the group that organized thousands of people, mostly Vietnam Vets, to come to the ANSWER rally last March and heckle the bejeezus out of the surprised antiwar protestors marching to the Pentagon. This time, several hundred Eagles were gathered on the mall, waving American flags, singing patriotic songs, and cheering speeches that praised U.S. soldiers and ridiculed the protestors. It was not yet 10 a.m., and hardly any ANSWER activists were to be seen. A funny thing about these D.C. rallies and counter-rallies is that the pro-American side always turns out early, while the leftists can never seem to get anything organized before noon.

Eventually I wandered off to a pre-rally “women’s convergence” sponsored by the antiwar feminists of Code Pink. Around 50 people gathered in front of a little stage on Pennsylvania Avenue. The small crowd was comprised of pink-clad women of various ages along with a few shamefaced men. Having clearly been dragged there against their will by their activist wives, I noticed that the men generally avoided making eye contact with one another. An elderly woman on stage strummed an acoustic guitar and belted out something that sounded like a rightwing parody of a feminist folk song: “Women of birthing; Women of dying; Gather the women; Let the circle begin,” she cooed. I’ve heard some bad music at antiwar protests, but this was by far the worst. I quickly fled the scene.

The anarchists really disappointed me. None of them jumped the wall. They portray themselves as the most militant wing of the antiwar movement, but they didn’t even have the guts displayed by the Code Pink grandmas. The anarchists claim to want a revolution, but apparently not a single one of them is willing to risk a misdemeanor arrest to achieve that glorious goal.

Maybe because Daddy would stop their checks if they got arrested...and then how would they afford their daily dose of Starbucks Venti Caramel Macchiato with a whisper of cinnamon?

The marchers at first tried to ignore the interlopers, but their self-control always seemed to break down right around the guy who was singing into a bullhorn

“All we are saaaying, is give soap a chance.”

Some heated exchanges ensued, but the cops maintained order and the marchers eventually arrived at the Capitol.

A great setup for the old:

Hundreds of protestors lied down

I first thought Mr. Langer needed to brush up on his editing skills; but then it occurred to me that maybe "lied down" WAS the right way to describe these clowns.

Thanks for posting this.

From the article: The marchers at first tried to ignore the interlopers, but their self-control always seemed to break down right around the guy who was singing into a bullhorn “All we are saaaying, is give soap a chance.” Some heated exchanges ensued, but the cops maintained order and the marchers eventually arrived at the Capitol.

That guy, who has a bullhorn and knows how to use it, was FR's own Doctor Raoul. He practically mowed the leftists down using only his words. As Raoul destroyed their party-like atmosphere with biting humor and brilliant wit, some leftists responded with rage, others with dejection. A few leftists recognized an on-target jab and joined the patriots in laughter as Raoul mocked some lefty target.

Several times, enraged lefties swung their signs at Raoul's loudspeaker supported on the barricade between the American patriots and the lefties. The signs caused feedback as they covered the sign. Raoul often pulled the speaker back off the barricade as that happened. The person just to the side of Raoul grabbed several of the paper signs being swung against the speaker and Raoul's arm holding it.

Occasionally, and as the leftists lost it completely, Raoul would say things like, "Would someone tell please tell the peace marchers to remain peaceful?" and "STOP THE LEFTWING VIOLENCE."

A Reuters video camera caught some of the interplay between Raoul and the leftists, but they didn't release it as part of their coverage on the website.

Please join us sometime and you can catch Raoul’s antics in person. Much funnier.

We’re at Walter Reed every Friday night now for 2 and 1/2 years. Raoul is not there every Friday (and neither am I), but he is there quite often. See the invitation at the bottom here: http://www.floodlight-findings.com/FReeps/misc/WRsummary.htm

Good one - funny - and predictable.

sadly, Dr Raoul's humor is LOST on the "useful idiots" of the "empty-headed left".

get them BEYOND their canned slogans & they are LOST & frequently speechLESS. (anyone who doubts this should ask a FReeper, who is a veteran of the "gore wars".)

The soap wasn’t DIAL, but it will do (IF they use it).... not holding my breath. I mean, I AM holding my breath, but not sticking around so I HAVE to hold my breath any longer than necessary.

2-3000 people marching past the Gauntlet tops.

It looked like more people were at the CANSWER rally site.

Love this article, great job by all and especially Dr. Raoul, the master modulator!

A professor in college told a class I was in back in the '80s that the term "dirty hippie" started back in the beatnik days, she said that toward the end of those times there was some kind of protest where the beatniks refused to shower, and the term "carried over" into the hippie era.

That doesn't explain the many unshowered leftist hippies we see today, however. I think a lot of it has to do with the homeless type, party down, drug ridden society that seems to be at the root of protester philosophy.

Hey, that makes me think of a new sign for the next march. Near the beginning of it, have your hippiest looking Pro-American by himself with a sign "Warning - Drug Sniffing Police Dogs Ahead." That should peel off a few marchers!

CBS news actually said something along the lines of: “several thousand antiwar protestors converged on the nation’s capital this weekend” - which lends credence to the 8,000 number. And video footage makes the protestors seem even fewer than that number.
