I still don’t know why I watch that Scheiffer crap but must be a glutton for punishment.

I think it’s the same reason I watch Cafferty with Blitz. I am within their age range, am very, very happy with my retired life, and just wonder what two such bitter people did to ruin their lives.

I have never been happier to see two people so bitter. They deserve their fate. Maybe they should have invested better and gotten out before they became such pitiful excuses for “newsmen”.

Thanks. Here is the actual quote, yet the writer of the cbs web piece has quote marks around the truncated version, without any ellipses. I could never be in politics and have people misquote me or take my words out of context all the time.

Mr. ROVE: I disagree particular if that is what you think the template is. You cannot be a candidate like President Bush was in 2004 and get 60 million votes for president, more than any candidate for president in the history—get 25 percent more votes in 2004 than he got in 2000. Get 48 percent of women, 44 percent of Latinos, 29 percent of Jews as a Republican candidate, get 48 percent more black votes in 2004 than he got in 2000, and do so by, quote, “playing to your base.” Now, I know that opposition talks about playing to the base, and I want them to keep thinking that’s the right strategy. But you win elections like this president won in 2000 and 2002 and 2004 by broadening the coalition, by getting more people to register and to vote, and by persuading people who might have been inclined to the other side to come across for you.

Wahhhh — they covered the hurricane Dean and all the flooding — and pre-empted Fox News Sunday on Fox News Channel. Didn’t watch it this morning.

Bah!

This is the fourth or fifth time I've responded to this phony argument. Here goes.

The combined effect of the two amendments you cited is this: No one who is not eligible to be elected President is eligible to be elected Vice President. Consider the example of the age requirement, set by the text of the original Constitution. Since a President must be 35 when elected, so must a Vice President.

A President can die within 45 days of taking office (witness William Henry Harrison). Therefore, a VP must be qualified to be elected President when he (she) is elected as Vice President. Otherwise, an under-aged VP might be in a position to become President, while bared from being elected President. That creates a conflict between two different parts of the Constitution, which is an improper result.

This is not even a close question. Only ignorant members of the press who haven't done their homework continue from time to time, to push this constitutional garbage.

I understand Bush's reluctance to engage the enemy, especially if he thinks it will divert his attention or soil the dignity of the White House. Unfortunately, by allowing the Left wing Drive-By Media party to define the debate, he has endangered our nation.

A president can not stay above politics. At the very least, he should marshal his own party to do the party's own bidding, for goodness sake.

thanks, that was my default position, but not being a lawyer I wasn’t in a position to tell another freeper he had to be wrong about taking this position.
