” Their 15 minutes of fame are long, long over.”

Maybe they think they haven’t had it yet, and keep trying anyway.....

Except for a lot of good people. But, not enough to change the majority of politically ignorant voters.

You would think if you'd been around as long as "old crusty" (Hill's yellow pantsuit)you'd know for sure your 15 minutes were up.

For clarities’s sake, Karl Rove went to college, he did not graduate from College, though he said in 1999 that “I lack a Math test and language requirement” to finish his degree.

Thanks, good to know this.

In any case, I respect what he has done, and stands for.

Want to see more of his being out “ truth telling”

Someone has to do it to counteract the spin machine.

The Sunday Morning Talk Shows - The Review

By Mark Kilmer

Sunday, August 19, 2007

On MTP, Karl Rove averred that the 2006 midterms were typical for midterms and were very close. He said that what hurt the Republicans the most were corruption and spending (earmarks). He also said that Dick Cheney was right about Iraq in his '94 comments but that 9-11 had changed things since then.

On FNS, he said that his criticisms of Democrats on the War on Terror in a recent speech were directed at MoveOn.org, Michael Moore, and Dick Durbin's "American troops are Nazi war criminals" speech. He accused host Chris Wallace of being an unwitting "agent" of Pat Leahy and Hank Waxman. And I liked this Rove quip: "I'm a myth. I'm Beowulf; I'm Grendel. I don't know who I am."

The Democrats debated at Drake University in Iowa this morning, and that was ABC's This Week. The candidates yelled at each other, and some folks liveblogged it.

On FTN, as on the other shows, they talked about Rove's assertion that Hillary Clinton is a "flawed candidate." By this, Rove said, he meant that she's coming into the election with the highest negatives of any candidate in history. Rove said that it was someone else's idea for him to appear on the "trifecta" of network Sunday morning talk shows. He said that though it was difficult for a party to win three consecutive Presidential elections, the Republicans had great candidates and could do it next year. He listed four by name: McCain, Giuliani, Thompson, and Romney.

On LE, Wolf talked to an Iraqi Kurd member of parliament who said that the Iraqi parliament could make progress by September, but if not, it's time to think about a change. Next, Wolf had three campaign consultants for the Democrat campaigns on to revise and extend what their candidates said in the debates.

Missouri's Kit Bond came onto LE and said that the NYT story suggesting the Congress had accidentally given President Bush dangerous new spy powers was "flat wrong." He had offered to put a rebuttal on their pages, but the times, fearing that their narrative would be shattered, refused.

Next on LE, was Pennsylvania's Bob Casey, jr., who blandly mouthed Democrat talking points. He said that the White House planned to distort the September Petraeus/Crocker report. He implied that as long as we left Petraeus and Crocker in charge in Iraq – the current course – nothing will change.

Yikes.

I've just had an interesting thought. What if Rove is getting out now to keep himself viable to aid the Republican campaigns next year, because the President intends to act as a lightning rod for the rest of his term and draw fire that would otherwise be directed at the Republican nominee?

As I see it, the longer the Democrats keep running against George W. Bush, the better.

It's possible that's what they're thinking, but I believe that Rove is too closely tied to Bush, particularly in a negative way as a target, to have any value being officially attached to a campaign.  The Democrats are planning on running against George Bush and having Rove on a Republican's campaign would allow opponents to paint that person as the continuation of the Bush administration.  Right now that's not a good place to be.

I think he'll consult for any of the campaigns, particularly the nominee, but won't have any official position.

My guess is she will go for someone with bigger name recog but not bigger than her.

If by that you mean not bigger physically then Michael J. Fox comes to mind.  And they could appeal to the pity voters, too.

Dinner today is not my usual roast, dad has been having tummy problems all week so he has had beans on toast and I therefore decided to have scampi, wheat thins, sweet chili dip, tartar sauce and Brie in bread crumbs. I did do a desert though blackberry and banana Pavlova.

Hey, Rod ... my big anticipation is: which politician will pay this political genius for his incredible skillset .. and more importantly, will they have the spine to admit it ... LOL.

I was so struck by the flashback of KR on with Gregory .. when he was just a kid with long, floppy hair, tortoise shell glasses ...and his punditry, confidence and even his voice were the very same as today. He’s simply an amazingly brilliant and passionate historian, mathematician, tactician, political psychologist, prognosticator and strategist.

What a unique and successful journey he and W traversed, and thank God for him and them.

I wish I could remember who said this .. it may’ve been on this thread .. but it will always stick with me. Evil hates good .. if anyone here said that, let me know so I can gaive proper credit.

Evil hates good, and KRove is just plain GOOD .. good at reading and defending against political opposition, good at reading granular national trends, good at predicting political moves, and good at almost everything he surveys.

I agree with Donna Brazile .. he *will* be a continuing danger to the Libs, and woo hoo to that.

I personally *do NOT* see him out of the mix as a huge contributor to Pubbie pursuits for ‘08 and forward. He’s too committed to the cause, and I just don’t think he could stand being away from it. I don’t think writing a book will be enough. The issue will be: in what role?

And who knows how many networks, publications, think tanks, etc. are jockeying for his services behind the scenes now?

The libs will continue to try to derail his efforts at every turn .. they know they need to obliterate and cripple him as much as possible. I do expect continuing subpoenas and hearings. But, what they may not expect is how much I suspect those appearances will *boost* his talents and street value.
