U.S. Attorneys Probe Decried As Hill "Hoax"

House Republicans are crying foul over the Democrats' probe into the U.S. attorneys' firings, calling it a "hoax" and a "shell game" that is aimed not at fact-finding but instead at influencing the 2008 elections.

"There's a growing irritation among Republicans, because it's gone on so long. With all the digging you would expect to find something awkward or odd or unexplainable," said Rep. Chris Cannon, Utah Republican.

Congressmen speaking on the record went only so far as to say that the investigation has yielded no results.

Privately, Republican aides with intimate knowledge of the probe describe a process driven by partisan politics from beginning to end.

"It is this big investigation of Republican manipulation of the executive branch's prosecutorial ability for partisan gain," said one senior House Republican staffer.

"What it has turned into is the Democratic manipulation of the legislative branch for partisan gain. It's a hoax, and a very expensive one," the staffer said.

Democrats say they have not found any evidence of wrongdoing because the White House has offered only private interviews with key administration officials, without a transcript.

Finally, they are fighting back....its over due. They need to fight fire with fire; the republicans should now go directly after Schumer — he is the one who started this. Schumer is the one who illegally requested/received personal financial records of Lt Gov Steele. Fight back, fight hard....stop chuckie and his poodles in the mainstream media who carry his lies on a daily basis.

Maybe it will stimulate that part of the body to produce stems cells that will produce gonads and the secretion of testosterone and the suppression of the of progesterone.

All attorney generals work at the pleasure of the President of the United States, and Bush should just say, I didn't want these people as AG's any longer, end of story. No other explanation needed. As long as the Prez keeps making other excuses, the dems will continue to hound him. If he was to say "I will no longer answer any more questions dealing with this subject. I have answered your questions satisfactorily and none other is needed." He should say that to the drive-by-media and to the demonrats in congress.

No other explanation needed

Except to the American people.

The President should hold a national televised address and simply tell the American people all AG's work at his pleasure and the AG's Gonzales terminated was with his approval for valid reasons.

There is nothing more to this event.

He should also say, "I am totally mystified that the Democrats are having such a fuss over eight personal while President Clinton FIRED EVER ONE OF THEM"

"This dumb Texan just can't understand it"

Gee, ya think?

They're a little slow on the draw, aren't they? This should have been slapped down IMMEDIATELY.

“A perjury trap and a headline maker, nothing more........”

Why is this even an issue? Previous administrations have always fired and hired US Attorneys. The Hill and Bill bunch did it wholesale. Guess the fuss has to do with getting rid of some of theirs. TS.

Nothing. And then they'll have someone resign to appease the democrats.
