I'm just about finished with Rowan Scarborough's fine book, Sabotage: America's Enemies Within the CIA. It's highly recommended. Paints a very different picture than what the MSM provides. Lots of detail

I heard an interview with the author on the Mark Levin show (with substitute host) I’m not sure I believe his entire story, but to the extent that his story is or may be true, this is an incredibly stenchy problem.

Tough to do. Look at the problems he’s having with letting the Attorney’s go even those whose contracts had expired. Trying to clean it out would result in a lot of leaks from their friends and the media who has been getting the leaks for years would also go after Bush for cutting off their bread and butter. Most of the people involved are covered by civil service and that makes it next to impossible to do a quick clean sweep.
There would be a similar if you tried to clean up the State Department.
He knows what’s what and has gone around them to get what’s needed.

Yep, the Presidency is a tough job. But, it’s a job that he said he wanted and a job he promised to perform. I haven’t seen him make any effort at all to solve these problems.
Remember Porter Goss. That was part of why he was put in as CIA Director. That’s also why he’s now gone. They got him before he got them.
There is something that actually IS Bush’s fault.
That’s the problem with most Republican presidents, they work around the leftist traitors instead of trying to rout them out of Government, no matter the flak from leftist reporters. So, they continue to multiply like rabbits.
I had high expectations when Porter was chosen to clean out the CIA rats nest. That he failed means the rats nest still needs to be cleaned out (along with about 2/3 of the U.S. Senate).
Today, few of us would trust the CIA, FBI, NSA, DHS, or most of the federal government. Regaining that trust is a long road back, a very long road back...

Sadly, increasingly, we’re seeing a naive, ineffective president, one fumble after another. It wouldn’t take all that many republicans to join the impeachment crowd = Dick Cheney as pres. Would he be as big a goof-up as GWB?
I’ll bet Hillary and Obama have a whole new roster lined up for the CIA once they take over. Expect the largest majority of them to be Islamofascists. Just “leveling the playing field.”
I was worried something would happen to Cheney when he had his heart surgery. At that point I wouldn’t leave it past the DemoRats to refuse to approve a new VP and then impeach Bush and assuming “their rightful place” in the White House.
There’s a lot of “what if” scenarios like Cheney’s health, but GWB was returned to office with the largest number of votes in history. But he’s fumbled a few things, the nomination of Harriet Miers, the social security mess, the naive assumption of instant democracy in iraq, the immigration mess, on and on.
And yet I see him finishing out his term if the ancient curse is gone : since harrison in 1840, every president elected every 20 years dies in office. Reagan ALMOST died in the hinckley assassination strike. So GWB has some 18 months to go. If iraq turns around and gets on its feet, that will be a big PLUS. Still, a LOT will happen before a new president is installed in jan 2009. If it’s the WITCH I’ll lead the secession effort here in MT, that’s for sure.
