"Pierre Elliott Trudeau Ripped Off Canada" was the rallying cry in all corners of Alberta back in the early 1980s.

Yea, only we had to put up with him for 15 years rather than 4...
Canada really needs to get around to setting up term limits - which is kinda hard because the prime minister is basically just another MP (Congressman) who’s been chosen to lead the party.

PET was the worst thing that ever happened to Canada.
He destroyed much of Canadian Culture and substituted a socially engineered linguistic/cultural regime ( taht thankfully did not take), socialized the government, destroyed the Canadian military, invoked the War Measures Act to save political cronies in Montreal, and win a general election. There are many others.
If anyone ever forced me to attend his grave, I would pish on it copiously!

Sir, he made Jimmy Carter look like a boy scout. Truly. And I am no fan of Jimmy Carter. Relatives, you know? After a long while we found out that Billy was the better man, just like we found out that Jerry Lee was a better man than his cousin the preacher from Louisiana. But Trudeau - he was bad ass.
