UK Citizens Abandoning the UK in Greater Numbers

July 25, 2007 - Press Dispensary - Increasing numbers of people are taking the decision to move overseas as a result of the UK’s current immigration policy, according to www.globalvisas.com, a specialist immigration consultancy that provides immigration advice and visa services.

As numbers of immigrants to the UK from the new European Union Accession states continue to grow, more and more people in the UK are choosing to take their experience and skills overseas.

The consultancy caters for immigrants to the UK as well as British people who wish to emigrate to the USA, Australia, New Zealand, Canada or South Africa. After more than 12 years in its field, the company has recorded an increase in the number of non-EU and low skilled EU A8 citizens coming to the UK over recent years, and is now seeing a dramatic increase in British people applying to leave the UK.

Director Liam Clifford says: "Since January 2007, we have recorded an 80% rise in British nationals applying to move overseas. As this rise continues, so does the number of enquiries we receive from people asking for help in migrating to a new country. In recent months, we have received as many as 4,000 requests in a single week from people who have had enough of Britain and want to get out."

He adds: "Ironically, the main reason for these people leaving the UK is the over-stretching of services caused by inbound immigration to the UK. We are aware of the issue of so-called ‘white flight’ from certain inner city areas to the suburbs but now people are increasingly seeking a better standard of living offered by other countries.

"This phenomenon adds to the existing shortage of skilled workers already faced by the UK as they leave only to be replaced by low skilled EU A8 workers or low skilled refugees."

not only is it immigration,

but it’s allowing immigrants the upper hand.

melanie phillips in her book “londonstan”

describes how british laws allow immigrants to verbally attack

britains but if they respond they are guilty of hate speech.

Firstly, mate, there is no reason to attack me personally. My view is no different to that of Western leaders including your own president. We all face a threat from Muslim extremists. That does not mean that all Muslims are like these thugs. Look at your own Muhammed Ali.

As a Christian, I wouldn’t like to be tarred with the same brush as people like the Lord’s Resistance Army in Africa who have murdered, tortured etc thousands of people in the supposed name of christianity.

I accept that fantatical Islam is a real problem worldwide at the moment. But there are decent, hard-working Muslims too.

To add to this. Britain does not face, as you put it, impending doom. We have faced far more sophisticated and sustained terrorism in the past and always prevailed.

I’d be wary of Melanie Phillips, mate. She tends to be very prone to hysteria and exaggeration. Far from Muslims being immune from the law for abusing non-Muslims many are in prison as we speak for their parts in various protests (like the Danish Cartoons one).

you must have problems with conservatives, then.

i heard her on the bill o’reilly show and read her book; she does not sound “hysterical” as you say.

from amazon dot com:

About the Author
Melanie Phillips is a British journalist and author. She is best known for her controversial column about political and social issues which currently appears in the Daily Mail. Awarded the Orwell Prize for journalism in 1996, she is the author of All Must Have Prizes, an acclaimed study of Britain’s educational and moral crisis, which provoked the fury of educationists and the delight and relief of parents. Her ideas have influenced politicians in both government and opposition, who follow her battles in the culture wars with fascination. Styled a >>>conservative<<< by her opponents, she prefers to think of herself as defending authentic liberal values against the attempt to destroy western culture from within.

Born in 1951, Melanie read English at St Anne’s College, Oxford before training as a journalist on the Evening Echo, Hemel Hempstead. After a short period on New Society magazine, she joined the Guardian in 1977 and soon became its social services correspondent and social policy leader writer. After a stint as the paper’s news editor, she started writing her column in 1987, taking it to the Observer and then the Sunday Times before starting to write for the Daily Mail in December 2001.

Apart from All Must Have Prizes, she is the author of The Sex-Change Society: Feminised Britain and the Neutered Male, published by the Social Market Foundation, and America’s Social Revolution, published by Civitas. She also wrote a play, Traitors, which was performed at the Drill Hall in London in 1985.

Thanks for your reply!

Don’t get me wrong, Phillips seems to be a very articulate and intelligent woman who makes some very good points. I’m sure her book is very informative too. However, some of her articles that I have read have, in my opinion, painted a picture of the UK that I,as a conservative, disagree with profoundly.

Cheers

Miami is an "international city." It is essentially a financial and business center for multinationals doing business in Latin America. Like New York, it is "post-cultural."

We are moving into a new world folks, whether you like it or not.

Clemenza, your points are well taken.

But the ultimate question is: can America - and the traditions and principles upon which it was founded - SURVIVE in your "new world"?

I, for one, don't think that will be possible.

I believe that - at some [probably distant] point in the future - it will be recognized that non-Euro immigration into Euro cultures doomed those cultures that welcomed such immigrants, who eventually replaced the Euro/Chistian/Western cultures with their own.

Call me a xenophone if you wish (I will wear that moniker with pride), but I think we have been digging our own graves....

Good points.

Remember, however, that the LATIN aspect of Latin American culture is as European as the Anglo in Anglo American culture. Most of my colleagues when I worked down in Miami (and in Panama, at least in management) were of European descent.

Be thankful that we are not surrounded by the Islamic world.

Lots of good stuff to see as a tourist, but your risking your life setting foot in the place.

LOL! So risky that average life expectancy is higher here in England than in the U.S........

blase attitude to the impending doom...

...you may be independently wealthy and so no matter what, you have the funds available to never have to deal directly with the problem.or secondly, you may be a 2nd,3rd,or 4th generation British subject of Pakistani descent

Oh dear! Lest you think uksupport1's reponse to this is the eccentric view of a solitary English Freeper, I'm glad to be able to tell you that as an Englishman who is neither independently wealthy (but I can always dream) nor of Pakistani descent (actually umpteenth generation white anglo-saxon yeoman stock), I endorse uksupport1's comments without qualification. Impending doom? After several years on this board I ought to be inured to the bizarre misconceptions about this country held by Freepers who don't actually live here, but they do still sometimes take the breath away...

Life expectancy and the propensity to be a crime victim are unrelated concepts; save the slim possibility of being murdered. You have drifted into an argument replete with flawed logic.

You have socialized medicine and therefore have to import jihadist crazed doctors to take care of the population. Wait times for operations and other procedures mitigate against a longer life. Worse yet, one of these doctors can easily justify using the scalpel murderously for it tis the will of allah.

If my logic is flawed, I don’t have the monopoly of that shortcoming. Your own original comment was, if you’ll forgive me saying so, distinctly shaky on at least two grounds - not least in the implied assumption that guns were widely carried in Britain for purposes of self-defence before the legislative changes of recent decades. They weren’t. Then, as now, legal gun ownership was almost exclusively for sporting purposes. Further, those legislative changes would not directly have affected you, as a visitor: since, as an alien, you would not at any time in the past have been able legally to carry a gun in this country anyway. Those quibbles aside, the essential underlying point is that there is no ‘rampant crime wave engulfing Britain’, putting the ordinary citizens of this country in a permanent state of fear, as you suggest. Sure, there are serious problems in certain areas at certain times, and Britain is hardly unique in that respect. But I’m happy to say that for most of us in most of the country most of the time we can peacefully go about our normal lives and normal business without fear, as we have always done. The same goes for the overseas visitors who continue to flock here in their millions without problems, and without ‘risking their lives by setting foot in the place’. I’m sorry, but the idea that this country is under some sort of seige preventing the conduct of normal law-abiding life is so far from the reality that it’s simply ludicrous.

I think Philips is awesome. I’ve read her book and heard her on at least 4 different radio shows and she gave excellent interviews in each one.

Crime is part of Jihad:

“More Moslems came, and soon a small mosque was built, which attracted yet others. As long as Zoroastrians remained in the majority, their lives were tolerable; but once the Moslems became the more numerous, a petty but pervasive harassment was apt to develop. This was partly verbal, with taunts about fire-worship, and comments on how few Zoroastrians there were in the world, and how many Moslems, who must therefore posses the truth; and also on how many material advantages lay with Islam. The harassment was often also physical; boys fought, and gangs of youth waylaid and bullied individual Zoroastrians. They also diverted themselves by climbing into the local tower of silence and desecrating it, and they might even break into the fire-temple and seek to pollute or extinguish the sacred flame. Those with criminal leanings found too that a religious minority provided tempting opportunities for theft, pilfering from the open fields, and sometimes rape and arson. Those Zoroastrians who resisted all these pressures often preferred therefore in the end to sell out and move to some other place where their co-religionists were still relatively numerous, and they could live at peace; and so another village was lost to the old faith.”

Boyce, A Persian Stronghold of Zoroastrianism, pp. 7-8;
