TELLURIDE A backlash quickly emerged after the Telluride Town Council adopted a resolution last week calling for the impeachment of President George W. Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney.
Its huge, unbelievable, said Telluride Mayor John Pryor. Ski groups are canceling for the winter. Hundreds of people are bailing. The (town) Web site is flooded with people saying theyre canceling their vacations here.
Pryor called it a silly initiative. The council, he told The Telluride Watch, is too busy to weigh in on national global politics.
If this was a silly initiative, why did he vote for it? The answer would seem to lie in the fact that the council routinely adopts resolutions, on matters both big and small, with nary a further word. Further, such a resolution would be hardly controversial in Telluride, where only 17 percent of voters in the 2004 election cast ballots for Bush.

Why do liberals always think the rest of us want to hear their opinions?
It's the vacationers who pay the freight; not the residents.
They don't; that's the whole point. Liberals consider their viewpoints final and w/o further discussion. So you conservative sub-humans better sit down in the back of the bus and shut up.
Exactly.
Drink that cool-aid slowly.
You know... I was considering a vacation there. I just might drop them a note too.
HA...these businesses can’t exist without us capitalist conservatives. The left and moonbat crowd are a very small percentage of folks, can’t support businesses. So we’ll show ‘em. You act in such a manner and you’ll have NO business...and will go broke. HA
Of one the sponsors dismissed talk about boycotts by stating something along the lines of “I don’t care if people cancel their trips to Telluride; these people are not welcome anyway” (paraphrase). Guess these morans (Telluride City Council) will come to their minds quite quickly now...LOL.
liberals can’t afford to ski... dumb asses.

Well, if it is so silly, why did you adopt the resolution.
I say keep hitting them in the pocketbook.
Hey, Mayor McCheese...whadday ya think NOW?
Telluride? I never heard of the place, but I hope every business there suffers mightily. Then maybe the capitalism-hating, America-hating scumbags will reconsider their feelings about voting for a party (the rats) who want to turn America into a Euro-style, secular-socialist welfare state. Meantime, screw them.
1. Another example of the risks of believing the pollsters you pay. The only polls that matter are at the cash register and the ballot box. All else is advertising—or propaganda.
2. Another example of the law of unintended consequences (quite the exact opposite of what was hoped, no doubt).
3. Them whut has the gold makes the rules, so don’t offend them whut has the gold with your own vainglorious little rules.
4. BOYCOTTS CAN WORK.
what ?....... Bush isn’t liberal enough for them ?
But, but, but ..........I thought everybody hated Bush and would support this well-thought-out resolution.

Was “One Flew Over The Cukoos Nest” filmed in Telluride?
Neither I nor any of my fat cat friends will ever spend a dime to ski in your town. Far more heinous than attacking the president in the time of war is the sheer arrogance of standing up in the public forum and announcing how important you are. Did you vote to impeach FDR or JFK?Just for the record, what were you piddling politicians doing back when Bill Clinton was getting blown in the Oval Office and transparently lying about it to a grand jury to the point of being disbarred? Were you all aboard with that impeachment? And it is the Bush tax cut that puts spending money in my pocket to go on vacation...any loyalty to that move?
Seriously, I, my family, and $2100 are heading to Gatlinburg for a week. There's a great little town...that just wants your money and knows how to politely keep their official yap shut. Nice going, mayor McCheese. Actions have consequences...I guess the local economy is going to be thin for a while, eh?
Liberals snowboard (wish I had that picture of Kerry).
Great. Let’s keep hammering them. Burning up their fax machine might be nice.
There are plenty of choices - http://www.skiresorts.org/unitedstates/
Mammoth is always great, as is Park City. I wouldn’t go to Sundance - the locals probably have impeachment signs posted all over town. Clinton likes Jackson Hole. Perhaps you could run into him there with some babe.

...except of course conservatives, Republicans, people from the Midwest, Bible-believing Christians...
AL had warned them. His believers don’t make Long Range plans that expect a traditional “Winter”. Telluride’s voters should be looking for a NEW Industry.
What happened to conducting the towns business?
Who pays these people to waste their time on meaningless pronouncements?
giggle.
Among the community members endorsing the resolution was Phil Miller, a veteran of World War II who was wounded in the Philippines.
The people have acquiesced too easily because they dont know the horror that war unleashes, Miller said of the Iraq War. I have seen the brutality of war that turns nice young men into barbarians.
Let me guess, a Kerry supporter.
I wonder if he includes himself as one of those "Barbarians?"
*snort* Hard way to learn that words mean things, and actions have consequences. Good for those folks who voted with their feet, and dollars, to go somewhere else!
Maybe the rich holleywoooooooood idiots can make up for the uninformed unwashed masses that are going to find somewhere else to spend thier cash!
I truley hope not, I hope to read deep into the winter that this council was forced to issue and appolgy....The blog entry above shows the excuses starting to flow!

"That just means more room on the slopes for meeeeee! Outa my way you $#*&@!"
That’s exactly it. They read the newspapers, and think, well, everyone hates Bush. So it’s ok. They don’t realize that the MSM only represents a small portion of the population.
Remember how amazed they all were that McCain is dying out there. Well, it must be the war, right? The MSM says so.

* There, fixed it.
At any rate, I'll be letting these idiots at Telluride KNOW why I've even taken them off my list for consideration.
hmmmm.
maybe we should all email them, explaining that we are canceling our planned ski vacations because we are “worried” about Global Warming, because of AlBores’s concerns....
After all, the perfect snow just might not be there, and even if it is, we would be warming up the Globe in our efforts to get there.
Never mind, they are really hungering after the rich folks who have “credits”, you know? We just don’t spend enough $ in the local watering holes and shops to suit them, particularly after the “cost to the globe” of getting there!
At the meeting, Phil Miller railed against an imperial presidency that launches unnecessary wars, and spoke forcefully and movingly against an administration that steamrolls dissent and then flattens foreign countries.
The people have acquiesced too easily because they dont know the horror that war unleashes, said Miller, who was a soldier during World War II, who saw babies starve and families hunkered down in bombed-out buildings. He himself was hit by a bullet while fighting in the Philippines. I have seen the brutality of war that turns nice young men into barbarians.
No, it was actually filmed in my hometowm of Salem, OR. Salem is not as liberal as Telluride, but the rest of the state is.
Hmmmmm, next the town will retain the ACLU to sue the groups cancelling for offending the free speech rights of the council. I am only mildly kidding - that is not far away.
"Show me just what Mohammed brought that was new, and there you will find things only evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached." - Manuel II Palelologus
There must be something in the water in resort locations. People who choose to live there year round acquire a bad case of moonbattery.
You’re absolutely right. I have a liberal friend who said that “conservatives should just be drug into this century kicking and screaming”.
At least they are up to the third-grade reading level. They are showing progress!
let’s hope the a-hole lib/dem dopes fall on really hard economic times.....
then they can do what the a-hole lib/dem dopes do best....raise taxes in the city!!!!!
maybe then ...they might realize who needs impeachment!!!
Hey, I snowboard, and I didn't vote for Kerry.
Liberals never seem to grasp the meaning of the word consequences. They have the right to say stupid stuff and people have the right to cancel vacations to their goof ball city.
Worse, why do they think their opinions should have no consequences?
Good for those people who had different opinions and cancelled their trips.
Whats wrong with that, Mr. Pryor?
Having spent time in the mountains on vacations in the past, I learned that they (mountains) are quite extensive.
Therefore on my next visit west Telluride will be avoided, the “Air America” of cities.
BS BS BS BS!
The town’s business may be way way off, but THIS makes it BUSH’S FAULT!
How convenient.
