The End Of The Tories (British Conservatives On Deathbed Alert... Have Moved Left)
Washington Post ^ | 07/10/2007 | Anne Applebaum

Posted on 07/10/2007 12:00:37 AM PDT by goldstategop

The Conservative Party long ago decided that too much talk of the British way of life, like too much loud opposition to immigration, made them sound crypto-racist. That left the patriotism card for Labor to play.

Indeed, as the Conservative Party has moved rapidly to the left, whole swathes of policy have been left open for Labor. Cameron is greener-than-thou, positively enthusiastic about public spending and skeptical of George W. Bush.

The English Tories moved Left... and have become Red. Its hard to tell who is more socialist - Conservative Party Leader David Cameron or Labour's Gordon Brown. The Red Tories look set for another general election defeat at Labour's hands.

Lady Thatcher apart, when was the last Conservative leader worthy of the title? John Major and his foolish embracing of the EU, thus splitting the party, was just the last act.

What’s the old saying? “Might as well be damned for a goat as a sheep?” What’s the sense of being the reverse of the same counterfeit coin as the Socialists?

Red Tory is a phrase that refers to a big government conservative. The Tories were once concerned with Empire, British values and an abhorrence of radicalism. Edmund Burke must be turning over in his grave at the emerge of a new breed of pseudo Tories. I would hesitate to describe them as committed to conservative tradition. No, dear friends - The Tories are going to where political parties die.

Edmund Burke must be turning over in his grave at the emerge of a new breed of pseudo Tories.

This might be true, but, since he was a Whig, he is much more likely to roll over because of the modern Whigs -- The Liberal- Deemocrats.

Tories, same as our Republican elitists. Both could of defended working and middle class social conservatism, but being upper class organizations, like the socialists, they didn’t have a clue. At least in the lefts memory were icons of labor unions, nobility of working class blather and so forth. Republican and Tory, by and large, look to the financial sector rich and large corporations. Working class, middle class, small and medium enterprises are just a pain in the arse to them.

I’ve been trying to sound the alarm occasionally over a period of time about the leftist leadership that has seeped into the Republican Party.

With grandiose plans for the NAU, and ultimately a goal of One World Government under the U.N. the worst enemy of the Lefts progress in that direction is Conservatives.

The Republican Party has long been the home of Conservatives, thus the RNC is under assault, infiltrated by Leftist NAU, Globalist supporters. The purpose is to kick out, denigrate the Conservative base to make the Party more Leftist World friendly.

The timing could not be better for them as it would take years of work and tremendous financial resources to rebuild a Conservative Party to replace the loss of the Republican Party. At this time and without an organized Conservative Army to fight them, they can win their destructive goals.

Where does this leave the few remaining conservatives in GB? The BNP?

While I’m no fan of David Cameron, I would not write the obituary of the Conservatives yet. Gordon Brown is not Tony Blair and after 10 plus years of Labour government there is a lot of fatigue setting in.

With any luck William Hague may yet be leader again and a future Prime Minister. He is, by UK standards, very conservative.

“Where does this leave the few remaining conservatives in GB? The BNP?”

Lol!

The BNP?? The BNP are unreconstructed socialists that wouldn’t have felt out of place in the 1970s Labour Party. And that’s quite apart from their racist and anti-semetic roots, and the fact that the lack of any prospect of being elected to anything means that they can come out with fantasy policies that they will never actually have to try to implement in the real world.

That’s a bit harsh, isn’t it mate? Isn’t your own Howard government, if not on its death-bed, staggering towards its demise? And then what? At least Britain’s Labour government has been staunch in the international WOT. What will a new Aussie government do in that regard?
