Calvin Coolidge on IMMIGRATION
Not known ^ | 6-27-07 | Dick Bachert

Posted on 06/27/2007 6:24:06 AM PDT by Dick Bachert

In his December 6, 1923 message to Congress, old “Silent” Calvin Coolidge expressed the then prevailing sentiment toward immigration in these words: (Emphasis mine)

DB

“American institutions rest solely on good citizenship. They were created by people who had a background of self-government. New arrivals should be limited to our capacity to absorb them into the ranks of good citizenship. America must be kept American. For this purpose it is necessary to continue a policy of restricted immigration. It would be well to make such immigration of a selective nature with some inspection at the source, and based either on a prior census or upon the record of naturalization. Either method would insure the admission of those with the largest capacity and best intention of becoming citizens… Those who do not want to be partakers of the American spirit ought not to settle in America.”

Bush and the other elitists now ramming the current INSANE immigration shamnesty bill down our throats ought to read those words until they sink in.

These people tell us that it would be too costly to round them up, ship ‘em out and build REAL borders – but the country can find the BILLIONS of “dollars” to support them with welfare checks, education, medical care, etc.? They think we’re really STUPID.

SENT THEM HOME AND CLOSE THE BORDERS – NOW!!!

OR WE’LL SEND YOU CLOWNS HOME NEXT ELECTION.

No American President would ever issue such statements today. It wouldn’t be PC. He would be called a nativist, bigot and xenophobe.

Bears repeating:

“American institutions rest solely on good citizenship. They were created by people who had a background of self-government. New arrivals should be limited to our capacity to absorb them into the ranks of good citizenship. ... Those who do not want to be partakers of the American spirit ought not to settle in America.”

Great quote from Cal!

And from one of MC CAIN’S (maybe he doesn’t know where TR stood on this?!) favorite’s:

-Theodore Roosevelt-

” The men who do not become Americans and nothing else are hyphenated Americans; and there ought to be no room for them in this country. The man who calls himself an American citizen and who yet shows by his actions that he is primarily the citizen of a foreign land, plays a thoroughly mischievous part in the life of our body politic. He has no place here; and the sooner he returns to the land to which he feels his real heart-allegiance, the better it will be for every good American.”

(Addressing the Knights of Columbus in New York City )

With the rise of PC, we’ve already lost some of the American spirit.

They can't - they're illiterate aliens.

More from Calvin Coolidge:

“Restricted immigration is not an offensive but purely a defensive action. It is not adopted in criticism of others in the slightest degree, but solely for the purpose of protecting ourselves. We cast no aspersions on any race or creed, but we must remember that every object of our institutions of society and government will fail unless America be kept American.”

“We are all agreed, whether we be Americans of the first or of the seventh generation on this soil, that is not desirable to receive more immigrants than can reasonably be assured of bettering their condition by coming here. For the sake both of those who would come and more especially of those already here, it has been thought wise to avoid the danger of increasing our numbers too fast. It is not a reflection on any race or creed. We might not be able to support them if their numbers were too great. In such event, the first sufferers would be the most recent immigrants, unaccustomed to our life and language and industrial methods. We want to keep wages and living conditions good for everyone who is now here or who may come here.
“As a nation, our first duty must be those who are already our inhabitants, whether native or immigrants.”

“We ought to have no prejudice against an alien because he is an alien. The standard which we apply to our inhabitants is that of manhood, not place of birth. Restrictive immigration is to a large degree for economic purposes. It is applied in order that we may not have a larger annual increment of good people within our borders that we can weave into our economic fabric in such a way as to supply their needs without undue injury to ourselves.”

“Those who do not want to be partakers of the American spirit out not to settle in America.”

“We have certain standards of life that we believe are best for us. We do not ask other nations to discard theirs, but we do wish to preserve ours. Standards, government and culture under our free institutions are not so much a matter of constitutions and laws as of public opinion, ways of thought and methods of life of the people. We reflect on no one in wanting immigrants who will be assimilated into our ways of thinking and living. Believing we can best serve the world in that way, we restrict immigration.”

We need law abiding people, not just warm bodies.

If this thing goes through, we can look for the final BALKANIZATION of America with all the internal unrest between the various SEPARATE and UNASSIMILATED factions that entails.

I have this sneaking suspicion that this is PRECISELY what these New World Order cretins in Washington want. The ensuing civil unrest and turmoil would most likely lead to closing the net around the rest of us, declaring a “National Emergency,” suspending posse comitatus, collecting the firearms and...

If you’re having trouble filling in the rest, study the course of virtually EVERY tyranny throughout history. Also look up “Hegelian Dialectic.”

And if some of you folks are not big readers, perhaps these short videos will help:
